with their new album out in stores and their songs being overplayed in those repulsive Clear Channel stations, their fan base keeps growing and growing.. and we need a home, for us good decent oldies.. and also for the n00bs :P

OMG! :bounce: :buzz: i'm so excited. i just bought the tickets. this is too good to be true. mullet, you are THE BEST

my friend who told me about them in the first place has been going on and on about the new record...it sounds a lot like the first one from what i've herad...which is only a bit that he played for me just now...but that's not a bad thing..

as he puts it.."they may have just one trick, but it's a damn good trick..."

thanks mulletproof... :flower:

I actually just heard them for the first time when they were on Leno a week or two ago (I don't listen to the radio), then I listened to clips from all their songs on both albums. I wasn't watching the TV screen at first, and I thought Ian Curtis had risen from the grave and Joy Division was back together on The Tonight Show. The singer actually tries to make his voice sound more like Ian Curtis than it does (vocal tics in intonation and inflection, obviously on purpose). Such a distasteful ripoff of a great, original band, in my opinion. They have talent for sure, but I wish they'd really develop their own true sound. They're famous for being Joy Division clones. Everything I've read about them in the press has been strictly about Joy Division. Maybe I should rip off a deceased band or singer and pretend like I created their sound. Nick Drake maybe?

Interpol

a friend of mine gave me "turn on the bright lights," which i loved. i went out on day 1 and got antics and even got my cd signed by them (they were at the virgin megastore in SF).

I'm going to the show at the warfield on 10.25 :woot: i can't wait to see them live...i just love the music, lyrics, everything.

Sorry, Mulletproof. :flower: But I stand by what I said.

no problem. Maybe you could give them a go some other time.. sometimes clips of songs are not enough for music or any sort of art, it takes time to dig into them and listen to the entire work carefully ;) :flower:

I so want to buy their new album, Antics. Unfortunately, in the Philippines, record stores have a surplus on Buble and novelty albums while there is not one album of artists like The Libertines or Interpol. :(

bump to the thread cause I saw them last Friday and it was f*cking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woot:

I almost don't make it to the show for lack of a decent ride but anyway.. we got really really late, we missed both On!Air!Library! and The Secret Machines, I heard different views of both bands, some say they were pretty good and some say they were crap.. I honestly don't care! :D

ok, so, since we were late, we arrived when Interpol's set had already started, I won't be bothered to check the setlist in any website cause knowing what I missed would be just torture, I just know Lenght of Love was finishing and Obstacle 1 was next when we got there.
They played (order might be wrong):
Lenght of Love
Obstacle 1
Narc
Not Even Jail
Public Pervert
Hands Away (!!!!)
Slow Hands
PDA
Leif Erikson ( kdshfsdnvmshfjh!)
Stella was A diver and She was always Down
Roland

I must add the lights were amazing..really really great, I was blown away by them and the show will be memorable ONLY BECAUSE OF them. I do love Interpol but they've been touring a lot and they were probably just tired, I thought Leif Erikson would be amazing but no, unfortunately it was a lot less than I expected.. plus I really wanted to heard Untitled and Specialist. anyway, other than that, it was still a great show, the acoustic was great and the crowd was lovely...and hot :brows:

Of course there are some similarities between Joy Division and Interpol, even Paul Banks said in an interview that JD were an inspiration for them - but I don't think they're JD clones. I can see some other infleunces, like Bauhaus, for instance...
I really think they managed to create they're own identity, I quite like they're songs! Thanks for the topic MulletProof! :flower:

Now, about Joy Division...  For me, one of the greatest bands ever... Maybe I should start a topic...
