Interpol

I'm over Interpol as well...Slightly disappointed with Antics, didn't like OLTA at all didn't buy it. Although, people like The Editors...are just awful. I heard them on the radio in the car, and thought, people really listen to this and like it?

He and Helena will probably be together for a long time. He looks her type, not too dissimilar from Norman Reedus, no?

How can you not like OTLA at all? No offence intended..but it's not the most terrible album ever made.

It's boring.

Lyrics do nothing for me "you wear those shoes like a dove"? Paul's lyrics are pretty nonsensical long before that but this just was ridic. The remixes of the songs off of Antics were awful too. Didn't like any of the music videos either for OLTA or the artwork. I'm not a music major but I most liked TOTBL, with Carlos' bass thumping all the time, I didn't feel the same way about OLTA.

Just generally, over them.

Sam's DJ'ing in NYC this weekend:

Magnetic Morning's debut EP on DH Records will be in stores this Saturday,
April 19th- Record Store Day.

This special five-song EP is the product of a
unique collaboration between: singer/guitarist, Adam Franklin (Swervedriver/
Toshack Highway) and drummer Sam Fogarino (Interpol).

In celebration of both
Record Store Day and the release, Sam will be DJing at Other Music in New
York (15 East 4th Street) at 5pm EST the same day

is it bad to want a new Interpol album again already? :ermm:

^ I must agree, I always want some new stuff from Interpol, despite I can put on my TOTBL and still feel that same feeling I had when I just discovered this band. Man, it has been about 5 years now! I am starting to feel old :(

lollicandy, I'm inclined to agree. Interpol's last album was pretty meh, in my opinion. TOTBL is amazing and Antics was great. I was disappointed needless to say. Thankfully I almost have every Interpol bootleg and B-Side out there to drone out OLTA.

This thread is so dead... I just had to bump it; Turn on the Bright Lights still sweeps me off my feet in the most amazing way.

I really don't like the Editors, either, in response to lollicandy's post from March 2008... :ninja:

Interpol's lead singer, lyricist and guitarist Paul Banks will release a solo album under the name Julian Plenti, according to the Matador Records blog. The new project, "Skyscraper," will be released on August 4th.

Banks has written and performed under the Plenti moniker for several years, according to a source close to the situation. While the album was recorded recently, some of the songs were written more than ten years ago. The album is described as having a "cocky, sexy" feel, with tracks that sound similar to Interpol, as well as some straight-ahead guitar rock songs.

I got Skyscraper yesterday and have been listening to it all day.. Skyscraper and On the esplanade are immediate favorites tracks but there's obviously still a lot more to familiarize myself with, all I can say is that I wish he would've taken Interpol down that route after Antics, or why not say it, after TOTBL -_- .
it's such a gorgeous album, definitely one of my favorite side projects in a long time.. I love how the lyricism is still nerd-ish and slightly awkward ("girl on the news"?), and feel fresher than the last I heard from the band.. I guess I'll just pretend OLTA never happened and keep waiting for the new album, hoping he might've integrated some of Skyscraper's inspiration in it.

i love them,i cant stop listening to them, pretty amazing band:heart:

I didn´t like it, I rather wait for the next Interpol album. Hopefully will come in the first 3 months of 2010.
