Interview December 2015 : Kylie Jenner by Steven Klein

You shouldn't have to work that hard to put meaning into the editorial. At some point, you're doing more thinking than the magazine team did when they were making it.

Nadja in the Newton editorial was fantastic for several reasons - the cold Aryan aesthetic, the theme of disability in relation to shoes, the idea that a mainstream magazine would dare go with the idea.

But this is nothing other than a diluted nod to any interesting concept, a trite round-up of low-effort looks. Worse still, it's not witty. It's not interesting that Kylie is equated to a plastic doll, when she does that herself, several times a day on Instagram.

i think you're right.
:cool::meow:

~ i just need something to put my brain on right now.
and also wonder about fashion in general. but its a larger subject. i've seen so many bad editorials in here this past 24hrs. there are some little gems, but in a whole it's not been interesting coz i feel like the celebs/lifestyle trends of the moment are just plain. but im just getting older, i guess
(its my birthday month ....)

imo everything in the art/entertainment business (from fashion to music to cinema etc) has already been done in a better way, now all we see is a diluted and cheaper version of it. The struggle is how to make it fresher and very few forms achieve it.
I guess it´s a matter of age, as I get older it´s harder for me to find any "magic" cause I´ve seen it before already... I remember Lady Gaga´s Paparazzi video and all the kids going crazy about the clutches and TM outfit, calling her avant garde and all that because they didn´t know and haven´t lived through that era. This is no different...

the poses are nice but it doesnt work with her face the concept needed a model with a very strong face and longer limbs

I like the aesthetic but on Kylie? she looks vile, shes doing a better job modelling than Kendall though

Actually I kinda like. Tho I'm really sick of the Kartrashian but I love the photography here. I love Steven Klein's work and this one is no exception. She did better job than Kendull tho.

I think more than anything else, I'm genuinely fascinated by how this entire family has somehow come to utterly define the current cultural zeitgeist.

THIS is what it means to be a celebrated public figure right now? It's so empty. So devoid of anything beyond narcissism.

At least with Kendall, she tries to be an actual model - to make the photoshoots about the product she's shilling v.s. being the product herself. But the rest of this family? What do they offer us for public consumption? Nothing. Nothing but their own warped self-obsession.

I find it really discouraging, honestly.

It's the opposite, Kendall clearly stated that she wanted the attention on her

Regardless of this edit including Kylie or not, it's stereotypical Klein. But she does bring a little something to this shoot that IMO, softens it but still keeps it in the vein of Klein's work.

Seeing a 18-year-old girl being photographed like this feels just plain wrong. And I know a lot of other young models have similar shoots, but that doesn't make it okay.

Besides that, it's beyond me why she is getting so much attention in the press. She has absolutely nothing. Why does she inspire young girls? There are so many truly powerful and inspiring women and girls all around the world but we only seem to care about the Kardashian family.

Can't wait for the review. Hopefully the other content can make up for this.:pink:

The whole trashy subject-ironically-photographed-as-high-fashion/art thing became really boring a long time ago, like in the beginning of the Kardashian's reign... People who follow fashion and/or celebrities are not shocked or intrigued by this sort of thing anymore

I do not understand the fascination with this girl. She's trashy, low classy, sleazy. TBH she's even worse than Kim and she's only just turned 18! And those people in that picture cramming outside the doors of the store that was closed so she could shop- do they not have dignity and self respect? Honestly!

And here I thought Interview had better standers than this! Glad I no longer subscribe to the magazine.

I expect this from V not Interview. I'm disappointed by the laziness of the subject more than anything. Had they done a classed up edit with her. It would of been far more shocking.

I honestly resent the fact that I'm supposed to have an opinion, be it positive or negative, about this family.

I hate Klein. if he and Terry were competing in the mysogeny stakes he would win hands down. Who in this century takes Allan Jones as ispo?

Yes, to everything here!! Same could be said for Madonna actually.
