iTunes is just the program that gets the music from your computer onto your iPod. All the music on your computer can be put into itunes, but you don't have to put the music you buy on itunes only onto your ipod. I hope that makes sense....

I dont get it: I was looking at the creative labs zen players and it says that the 5gb one holds up to 2500 songs and the 20g one, which has four times the storage, holds only twice as much songs-up to 5000. How does this make sense?

makes sense ;)

ok...
but i still don't know which one i should buy!
I mean the small Ipod shuffle with about 500mb is 100€
and the Ipod mini with 4Gb is 200€
sure, I'll get more for my money when i buy the Ipod mini... but actually I just wanted to have a small player... hm....

then I would get the shuffle... I mean it's the same thing as a ipod just cheaper and it plays the songs randomly. So if you don't care in what order the songs are played then I'd get the shuffle;)

That is a toughie, I think it's just a matter of personal choice, I'd go with a normal ipod just because I like it better but since you're looking for a small player I'd suggest the mini unless you want a small size but also large memory, then go with the mini

The mini's no more. They have replaced it with the nano. Gorgeously sleek.

that is a sweet sweet machine. I may have to get one!

Also, since I need a new phone I'll probably pick this up this weekend:
http://onlinestorez.cingular.com/cell-phone-service/itunes_ROKR.html

it's like a superdevice! video, camera w/flash, digital zoom, AND mp3 player with 100 song holding capability! Up to 1 gig, but comes with 512mb!

the best part is that it runs off of iTunes AND the screen functions are essentially iPod. Plus it has external speakers to rock out to, and the ear buds also have a mic so the music immediately pauses during incoming calls and you can talk to them, hang up and immediately get right back to the music without any hesitation! How awesome is that?!?!?!

Ahhhh $250. I must get it!

... and the Nano too hahaha.

do ipods take any mp3, or does it have to be specifically ITUNES encrypted or something?

in other words, will i be able to download on Limewire to put on my Ipod..

They take any MP3s, so you should be fine with anything you download.

I just got the Sony NW-E507, but after seeing the Apple nano I'm sold...its amazing and tats a device I could own where it wouldn't matter if everyone else had it...hehe

problem with the sony...is its SonicStage crap app...makes transferring songs frustratingly annoying...its also terribly unstable....iTunes rules...

Ah! The ROKR is an awesome phone, there's juts one problem, now I have a choice between two phones:

should I go for the ROKR or the RAZR....someone please help me

Also, I have to ask you guys...had the nano been available since the beginning, would you have preferred a 20GB colour ipod, a 60GB photo ipod, a mini, or a nano?

thanx,
Eliza

Eliza, tough question. Not forgetting that the nano is also colour.

I still will not be able to decide between a nano and a mini (the new coloured screen). The mini's so sweet while the nano is so sleek. Tough. Sorry, not much help.

I would say the Rokr. It does everything the razr does AND then some! Video, pictures, flash, digital zoom, ipod-shuffle memory size, bluetooth, usb to computer.

The razr is just flat and can take pictures. For $50 more you get all the above!

The decision is clear hehehe

I went into the Apple store today, and you just have to see the nano in person. The website pics do it no justice. It's essentially no larger than a credit card. Really, really cool.

what about nano/mini VS. the other ipods I mentioned?

DO you guys know if the nano can use all the accessories that the larger ipods can use?

I'm still in love with my mini. Wish I had the color screen tho!

To help you decide, Cnet compiled lists of top mp3 players in different categories (hard-drive, micro hard-drive, flash-based, etc)

http://reviews.cnet.com/Music/2001-6450_7-0.html?tag=cnetfd.dir

As a not-so-musically inclined girl: personally, I prefer...

hard-drive: iPod
- It has great interface and design, tho the sound pales in comparison with other top players of its kind. I believe it has a neutral sound that some sophisticated music-listeners require.

micro hard-drive: Creative Zen Micro
- It has good sound quality, cheaper than the iPod, has more features. Its keypad is not as easy to use as the iPod and I prefer the look of the iPod. But overall, I'd still buy the Zen.

flash-based (smaller capacity): Samsung YEPP YP-MT
- It has good sound quality, tiny, and a good value for its price with all the features. I bought the Cowon iAudio which I love! It has lyrics support too. I didn't choose this for this category because of the price. I apologize in advance, but it's not favorable to buy the iPod Shuffle. It's very overpriced for what it offers and having no lcd can get pretty annoying.
