ipod vs the competition..

Since this is in a fashion board, go with the ipod, it's designed so well, so clean and minimal...plus mine works great

ipod has the best design, obviously, so it appeals to a lot of people.

itsis excellant for people who arent very familiar with electronics stuff...

ipod does have some downsides though..
so if you are a "techie" it might not satisfy all your needs...

1. it doesnt support OGG files
2. it doesnt let you listen to FM radio
3. theres no built in encoding....
4. the battery life

so if you just want a cute mp3 player, get the ipod...

but if you want somethign more.. dont get it..

im definitely into electronics...
i know tons of people who are happy with their ipods.. but i just cant bring myself to buy one because i know that i'll want to listen to some OGG files and FM radio... i actually use the direct encoding function a lot too, so i dont know what i'd do if i get an ipod..

ipod is not the best player.

i have one (ipod photo 60gb), i don't like it. the "user-friendlyness" makes it so much harder to use. i liked my rio karma much better- the navigation was so much nicer to use. the lack of a pwer button annoys me. it takes me forever sometimes to turn the damn thing off- yes all you have to do is hold the play button but half the time it doesn't work. my headphone jack is a little messed up too. the only reason why i finally succumbed to buying an ipod was because it has so many accessories for it. the karma had next to none. hopefully that changes with the karma 2 though.

it's overpriced, the sound quality isn't great, scratches easily...

bleh.

If you are going for the ipod mini i recomment you to check out the new olympus m:robe mp3 players. They have 5gb hard drive compared to the mini's 4gb. They also allow external storage for your computer including jpg and bmp files. The battery life is up to 12 hours which is better than the mini's. The price is the same and i think the look of it is quite comparable.

It is priced at approx 199 usd or 250 cad.

Or the Iriver which comes in 6gb and comes in colours of charcoal, red or silver. It also allows storage of jpg and bmp files plus a radio and colour screen.

329 cad , 10 dollars more than the 6gb ipod.

I'"ve heard that the iRiver is very good. And I think he is looking really stylish and uncommon. I think that if you have the same space etc on the player, the rest is only esthetical and look and personnal taste.

the m:robe is SOOOO nice! WOAH!

:innocent: , well all this contemplating and I bought a 30GB photo ipod yesterday..

Nearly all hard-disc mp3 players will hold photos, but not display them. The iPod Photo just has a colour screen so you can look at them.

Ipod or Creative Zen Micro?

I have decided to part with my MiniDisc player and go for a MP3 player.

I cant decide what type to get. I like the Zen Micro alot, but they are £150, and in England you can only get black, white and silver, whereas I want pink.

The there is the mini Ipod, its ok, but I dont really like the look of them, and they have sort of become a bit overdone now.

Do any of you have the micro zen? What do you think of it?

Or do you have any recommendations of a different sort of mp3?

Thanks

Kim

The design is quite nice but not as easy to use as the ipod.
