and some news about "party like it's 1699" from it's website !
http://www.partylikeits1699.com/en/about.html

Driven by fashion, art, music, culture and reckless abandon of our parents’ values, we are the youth! though we’ve got the arcade fire and skinny jeans, and the kids of the 17th century were more into powdered wigs and jean-baptiste lully, youth culture in both centuries are an awful lot alike.

party like it’s 1699 is a postmodern-baroque spectacle that fuses both centuries’ visions of youth culture; a cabaret show combining elements of music, contemporary dance, visual art, poetry and fashion, from the brightest talents of the montréal scene. this production envisions history through the simultaneously critical and fawning eyes of aleks schürmer and his ensemble les tabarnaks d’époque.

come inside jonathan sévigny’s cardboard storybook theatre, where 18 century music, sung by soprano ariane girard, comes to life with couture dresses and edgy choreography from andrew tay, dana michel, mélissa raymond and sasha kleinplatz. supermodel irina lazareanu is the evening’s host, offering her own musical and spoken word performances. featuring the music of clérambault, couperin, lully, de visée and schürmer/lazareanu, with additional performances by indie-folk artist david simard, dj dirty dan, and surprise guests.

{classical music performances in the 18 century were engaging, entertaining, and thoroughly ‘modern’ in their aesthetics. historical accounts of a baroque outing describe it the same way as someone blogging about an indie or electro show today. so what happened? classical music has stagnated; its performances have become homogenous, inoffensive and totally foreign to today’s youth. even with all the careful attention to culture during the 18th century, they still ended up losing their heads; so one can only imagine where we’re headed… }

I don't *think* these have been posted here before but I could be wrong.

sorry but she just ruins the song.Kemp sounds wonderful but then there's the psychotic angry sound-Irina.

i always adored irina's style. not very fond of her short hair but she's still some kind of icon.

VEry strange voice, but if she starts to sing songs that really move people and tell full stories she could be very popular. Love You INA LA

(Irina that should be your stage nickname Ina La!!!!!!)

The short hair is growing on me, she looks so cute in those golden dress pictures! Singing isn't exactly one of her talents though.

she has a very interesting voice, but I can hardly hear what she's singing..it's like she has no voice at all to be honest and it's not very pleasant to listen to

i really like this cover, i think it is something different, love her facial expression

I might be alone in this but actually I didn't mind Irina's vocals in that last clip at all... I thought it worked quite well - the sound quality of the video isn't super but I can imagine what it probably sounded like in the venue... The first video I saw of her singing however...eesh... wow... I was embarrassed for her.

^ I don't know if it might be on YouTube somewhere, but back when she did Strange Places at the Paris/London show, they had a studio version on the Chanel website for the Accessories video (if you know what I mean...) and it was really good; I think with a little more mixing and so on it is a very different sort of sound...;)I'd go see her in a club- I love her and the song...Gonna be appearing in New York at all, Rini?? :flower:
