Isn't this site TOO american?

The "Stockholm, Sweden" and "Roma, Italia" is something I never hear in the UK, we'd just assume you meant Stockholm in Sweden (are there others?) but I guess it originates from you stealing all our place names and reusing them in loads of different states because you can't think of enough of your own:P

That's not really fair and misleading. The names of these little US towns were given by the settlers who felt nostalgia for their native countries.

I love this site too, never before have I spent some much time online! I guess it's kind of american but def. not in the Juicy Couture - Uggs kind of way.

 I'm a newcomer here, as you can see by the number of posts. This fashion site is so far the most informative, varied, fun and POLITE (thank God for that!) that I have ever come accross. I got square eyes the first time I read it and I kept thinking "I can't believe no one gets agressive or rude or cynical to anyone else".

I'll be coming back! In the meantime, my pile of ironing looks like the peaks of the Himalaya's.

Keep it up!
welcome to tfs shadow...happy to have you as part of our happy community...:flower:

 Thank you, Softgray!

I have only once been to the U.S. and then to New York. Contrary to what they told me, I saw there the thinnest, most glamorous people in the world (OK, I admit it was around the Upper East Side). I also ate VERY well and the portions were HUGE. I'll never forget the croissants at Dean&DeLucca.

The american style that I saw was classy with a dash of freshness. I remember a lady in her mid-thirties wearing a classic skirt and jacket suit in pearl grey...very boring BUT she was wearing silver coloured Tod's! That is only an example. I like american women when they dress well because they NEVER EVER LOOK BOUGEOIS and look incredibly clean and sparkling, It must be the fact that few smoke.

Bourgeois to me is what you often see in Europe. The coat is Maxmara, the bag Gucci, the watch gold/steel rolex, the scarf Hermes, the hairdo inevitably blond highlights with a ton of hairspray, the sunglasses with big golden logos on the side, the nails dragon red, the perfume Guerlain.

When we left New York, both my husband (architect) and me were in tears.

Like so many i also sort of found this site by accident, about 1 1/2 years ago. I have never thought that it was too american, it always seemed very international. I love to come to this site and just read, not neccesarily post, just learn about the things I wouldn't see otherwise. I am always amazed at the info that people on this site find, obscure references, and collections from the past and I think it is fabulous. I think it is something special, and it seems that many here are not fooled into buying sweetface by j.lo and the whole juicy/hilton/comercialism, I come from a relevently small town, and before it was always lonesome enjoying something like couture, but now I feel like this is a place where differences are not looked down upon. In another post it was said that the talentless celebrity influx into fashion might jeopordize the creativity of the industry, but I feel that as long as there are people like the people on this board, who long for creativity and inovation, that fashion as an industry ( American or not) will be just fine.

I think TFS is very multinational...but reading this thread I do see a lot of "stereotypes" being used to justify whether it is or isn't. We have to understand that not everyone from one place is the same way - not all Americans don't appreciate creativity, are rude, only like Juicy Couture...just like not all French people are snobbish and only wear Chanel! There's way too much diversity to lump everyone together.
i agree. i found tfs about a week ago and i'm very pleased [bulgarian].:flower:

hello ? this site is GLOBAL in its views ...after all it is on the world wide web!
