Italian Street Style

And also how to dress for the evening. I've been to quite a lot of the Mediterranean and found that in the evening people tend not to dress up very much for restaurants, and wondered if this was the case in the evening?

And what footwear would you recommend for a lot of walking around Rome, that's comfortable but still stylish?
Thanks

Depends where you're going, of course...but Italians like to dress up :D esp. for posh events! About the footwear; Rome is beautiful but it's a pity there are so many tourists spoiling the beauty  It's usually quite hot around this time of the year so keep that in mind! I'd say some cute flats or sandals will do, Rome is not a 'fashion city' anymore :innocent:

I don't know about Rome, but here in Turin every single girl is wearing flat sandals/flat slippers with a very thin sole

I'm going to Rome in a few weeks time, and then to somewhere called San Gimignano (in Tuscany I think). I just wondered what sort of weather there's likely to be?

I am going there in July! Hot and humid, about 35 degrees (so they told me).

I am going to wear linnen trousers coordinated with cotton tops/shirts. A nice necklace and gorgeous bag if I go to a restaurant in the evening.

As for shoes, flat chocolate leather sandals from Bally, moccasins from Geox (the ones on their website page) and one pair of sandals for the evening.

I want to be confortable and stylish, certainly :p

my friend Mariella wears jeans like the Berlinese girl (she's in Barcelona now)...

Distressed? Hum ... my fave jeans got "distressed" so I stopped wearing them ... not a good look -esp on girls-

i love everything in italy the fashion Style , the food , the weather , the people , the shopping , the designers(prada .. gucci .. fendi ferre .. d&g .. pucci .. versace .. armani .. etc ...) i love italy

on the site www.royalmachine.com there are a lot of pics from parties in Rome and Milan...

About Lucky Stars love for italy....After 7 years here I find it too Italian...I see all the bad things...the traffic, peoples comments all the time, the superficiality (?) the difference between rich and poor, corruption, absense of new tendencies etc...

And now it's around 40 degrees and in 3 days I go home to Sweden...finally...

I work at a restaurant and it is always so easy to tell which customers are Italian; their ability to be dressed up yet look like "oh... I just threw this on" is definitely a distinguishable trait.

2. for sightseeing and a bit of shopping.
3. for the october weather- i have NO idea how cool it will be, and coming from a country that is 31 degrees all year round, 17 degrees is ice cold for me.
i have tonnes of jeans, at least 5 pairs of vintage boots ranging in different styles... a couiple of leather jackets. no scarfs... i'm borrowing my dad's trenchcoat....

house fashion ppl

i wanted to tell u guys about the new big trend for teenagers in italy. its called house style and refers to that kind of music that is played in all the clubs. in fact these teens go the club 3 to 4 time a week.
young boys and girls around 15 to 20 follow this big national style that finds its "home" in milan offcourse.

what does it mean to dress house?
FIRST MUST: dress pink! your closet is gonna be full of bright pink tshirts, pink pants..also pink hair! and in general bright and appariscent stuff! d&g, d2squared..but also zara and h&m if you dont have a lot of money!
the hairstyle really distinguishes these people..short&long with a lot of layers, long in the front and short in the back, "crestine" (crest) that reminds the punk style, but a lot more modern.
sunglasses all the time esp when in disco, even in night time.
then a lot of accesorize, childish stuff, pink and bright colors again..

this style brings up the desire of trasgression...and puts together perls, peaks, leggings...a lot of make up!
and the final must : CONVERSE ALL STAR SHOES!

look at these links and pics and it would be clear:
