Italian Street Style

See, it's funny because it seems only we italians can see how horrible and unstylish is italian street-style... Everybody in this thread seem to think Italy= style and it's totally, damn untrue. It's just cheap and based on imitations.

exactly!

maybe because the big italian designers (except for d&g, which I despise) are wonderful, I don't know.

And I have to admit that a lot of ladies (mostly 30's to 50's years old, with good money) dress well, what seems to be perceived abroad as the "italian style", reflected in brands such as max mara.

But for the youth street trends... yuck!

Mainly d&g for men, miss sixty for women. Clashy, trashy, too many flashy coulours. And the thing I hate... fakes. Fakes everywhere, I haven't seen this in any european country.

Especially fake sunglasses and fake bags.

I'm so happy when I'm in Berlin or London shopping. ^_^^_^

lol I guess we are more critic with ourselves..

when I hear people talking about 'french style' and 'parisian style' I always think it's overrated...the people I see in the streets are not that stylish, they almost all dress the same and sometimes it looks cheap...but overall I do like it...same for the Italian street style, it's true that sometimes it's over the top, it's flashy and it can looks tacky but overall I like it, and I really consider Italy as a fashion country!!! that's why I can't wait going back there, esp. in Milan

Well, I can say I lived in Rome for one year and I really was disappointed...
I, too had the idea of the 'great italian style' but all I could see was cheap and cheaplooking clothes!!
Always jeans, big sunglasses, straight hair etc... Or over the top sexy  I know there're these 'stereotypes' like 'french style' and not everybody is dressing well etc. but there's a difference because for some weird reason (in Rome) you can't find anything between€5 and €300, if you know what I mean. There are these massive worldwide known expensive brands but you can't expect average people wearing those so they have to go to these supercheap stores where they're probably copying the brands (and quality 'sexy' becomes cheap sl*tty). The only 'decent' no so cheap store was Zara and Benetton, so go figure:cry: That's the difference between french and italian style, the former can be bad but the quality of the clothes is still decent!
I also feel the youthstyles are ghetto, versace-sexy or punk...There's no elegant between

Oh and I forgot to add those fake bags... They are EVERYWHERE! Is the Italian government already doing something about that? They were selling those fake 69 Guccis in front of the Gucci store :innocent:

And wanted to add: I really loved Rome/Italy, it's a great city/country..just not the streetstyle...
