Jacquemus S/S 2025 Paris

this reeks of desperation.

it's sad to witness, no matter if you like him or not.
Even with his limited design abilities Jacquemus was often capable to translate an ounce of joy or fun in some of his outings.
Now also this has vanished. And with it his signature that made him famous.
Tragic.

Those dresses with the open sides.. he just doesn't get it, it's not that he can't edit himself or doesn't know when to stop as is the case with other challenged designers, or that he's even let his hormones take the wheel, there's just something about his work that screams illiteracy, like an accountant who secretly doesn't know numbers. These dresses are so vulgar but.. accidentally, in a way that you almost feel a tiny bit of compassion, and it's going to ignite something similar when it lands on someone's body.. it's giving hoe, and it's somehow also giving poverty/'may she afford non-DIY cLasSy dresses soon', nothing wrong with any of these lifestyles, but with this 'oh so luxurious' repackaging of what remains a lighthearted label.. if I was a designer, I would not want to be associated with this type of presentation for years to come, it now feels like something you resort to when all else fails, to make another Titanic reference, he's the violinist, it's all good, we're so elegant, we're totally going up, not down.

It look better made than before but still Couture by Temu, if you know what I mean. Quite like the casting tho. But this feels all over the places. Somehow it feels even more forced because it is very trends driven borrowed from other couture collections/inspos and yet, he can't manage to make it look as good as theirs.

It seems that the prices are also higher than usual. All the new bags are above 1000 euros, with the new "Turismo", much more classic than his other bags, that reaches 1390 euros... there is also a leather jacket for almost 3000 euros... I don't know how the young people who followed him will take this price increase...

I think part of the thing is also to expand his clientele. I have seen some Made in Italy stuff so he is really serious about it.
The people he invites in his shows are quite telling and the casting is heading in that direction too. From Carla Bruni, Audrey Tautou to Tyla and rappers.

I’m more and more convinced that he will enter the Redcarpet game. He is working with La Marquisette (Youssef) now.

I don't even understand what he's offering/his pov anymore. Braindead collection for braindead people.

Sorry, going out on a limb here but could we cut the guy some slack, please? The pretty much universal derision is shocking. What, his silhouettes seem redolent of others? Seriously? The brand's innovative approach to marketing, social media, runway show art direction amongst other things has been copied everywhere from here to Timbuktu so, please, let's chill a bit.

He is an independent voice that has built a solid business in a climate where it seems pretty much impossible to do so. He also created an it bag when a majority of luxury brands are struggling to come up with one. So chill. Tyla next to Anna Wintour? Tems at his show instead of Aya Nakamura? Yes, it wasn't perfect but what is? He is trying to raise his bar and has achieved more success than a lot of us ever have and ever will. So chill.

You’re acting like a bit of criticism on thefashionspot forums is going to affect his business in any meaningful way, get serious.

I don't think it's a bit of criticism but rather a lot. It's just not balanced. And he is singular in what he has been able to achieve in recent years and that is commendable.

Nah, he's a grown man who makes millions of dollars. He can handle criticism on a fashion forum. Sorry. This isn't someone selling crafts at a local maker's market.
How dare you come after a poor artisan who sits under the sun all day selling modest long dresses with giant holes on the sides that he sews with his own torn hands with no marketing whatsoever that could indoctrinate you into thinking he's the Messiah of long dresses! until you sit under the sun like he does, you can't have an opinion! and for the record, until you make your own sausages, save any opinion on good vs bad sausage brands to yourself! merchants, what's capitalism..

The collection was paced and more sophisticated than what he usually shows.
I, honestly, feel like he was so strongly vying for Chanel (who wouldn't) and was inspired to do this collection based on what he would have tried to do if given the appointment. That said, we'll never know.

I liked the collection, I know y'all do not f*ck with him like that.
But, it was a good show and great cast, I liked many of the looks.

The new Turismo is an old Margaux from an ancient Atlas.
