Jane Birkin

those pictures are stunning, so thanks a lot for your scans! the pictures are beautiful as always, i specially like the ones in the third page

jane birkin is probably the only woman out of all my favourite sixties icons who is as beautiful and interesting today as she was back then

Her style is simple, beautiful, and charming. It's funny how in many pictures Lou resemebles Jane, but I still can find Charlotte in a few of them.

Not sure how many of these are re-posts but they're quite big and don't have watermarks which a lot of Jane pictures do!

Jane Birkin's free-spirited style

Posted by Danielle Radojcin on 17/06/2009

Sticking two fingers up at bourgeois sartorial norms, Jane Birkin (b 1946), became one of the most famous women in France as a result of her relationship with singer Serge Gainsbourg. Her role in Blow Up (1966) established her as a pretty young thing who epitomised the style zeitgeist, and she sealed her notoriety when she and Gainsbourg recorded the duet Je T'aime... Moi Non Plus in 1969.
Her penchant for going bra-less and wearing skirts so short they scarcely covered her rear end further enhanced her image as a free-spirited product of her time. After mentioning she couldn't find a handbag to suit her needs (her straw basket went everywhere with her), Hermès created a style especially to her requirements, and the Birkin bag was born. Her style is today revered by the likes of Alexa Chung and her daughters Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon, all of whom emulate her boyish, sexy chic.

I love how she always carried a wicker basket as a handbag. It was genius, really.

I love that Jane was never afraid of short dresses, I'm the same way, whenever I see a top I have to have at least 3 people convince me that's what it is bc I think everything's a dress :p And she wears white so well!

She is magical.

^ Yup! I guess my tastes were formed by Diana Rigg in the 60s, but I am amazed that in that article she says how people said she was like a boy- I think she was/is sexy as Hell!! That big eyed look with endless legs - I guess I would have been very happy back in Swinging London!!
