I must say I much prefer Jane in the 60s and 70s.

well, i prefer her in the 60s/70s too. i mean, i'm talking about her style - it was the greatest back then. but she's not young anymore. she can't wear denim shorts and or mini dresses. she's a lady now and she wears comfortable clothes and/or clothes that are appropriate for her age. but she's always going to be a real style icon, no matter what

don't hit me, I'm a Jane fan too, and I agree with what atooomic said. But I still think she looks very different now, and not the way I'd imagined her to have aged into.

^i think i know what you mean. i thought she'd age differently, too. sometimes i compare pictures from the 60s and 70s and look at her now and i'm like "wow this is the same woman"...

what used to look effortless translates as lazy quite often now but I still think she looks fantastic, she certainly became more intellectual with age, less the fashion darling that she was during her youth and more concerned with social matters and I think her image and the way she wears clothing represent that, it's quite practical, too practical for my taste sometimes, but also her activities have changed.. I like that she didn't attempt to stick to her youth's tricks, which would be look a bit over the top now (a la Anna Karina and her pounds of make up and ribbons ), or a overly concerned with her appearance to the point of.. insanity (like Brigitte!).
Jane and Charlotte Rampling are easily my favorite 'mature' celebrities precisely because of the simplicity and modest approach to life and appearance.

^i totally agree about the anna karina comment! she used to be one of the most beautiful women in the world imo, and she could have aged gracefully... (totally agree about BB too).
jane definitely looks better than them. no doubt about it. people have such a phobia of aging that they end up ruining their looks...
