Jean Paul Gaultier S/S 2026 Paris

Idk what you people are talking about. This is Gaultier. You forgot he is the OG troll? The real problem here is that it looks cheap like costumes from aliexpress.

What was that audio of a child saying "someone entered the room..."??? Bunch of stupid people working in this industry 🤨

The skin pieces at the beginning arrived just in time for Ryan Murphy's new Netflix show:

Unpopular opinion: I liked it.
Even though he tapped into the tropes that Gen-Z like to attach to Gaultier, I think it was rather dynamic, fresh, bold. He took another approach to what was doing Jean Paul in the late 80’s early 90’s.

While watching this, I had images of Jean Paul Goude, videos of Mondino, photos of Pierre & Gilles.

Quite camp, quite ridiculous at times but I was also impressed by the execution, the quality.

Yes, it’s gimmicky but I’m curious to see what he has to offer. The motorcycle trousers and the bombers were great and it was basically the only « wearable » option on the show.

The challenge for him will be at some point to be more subtle and to tap into the more sensual, mature side of Gaultier sometimes.

I also think that this collection and in some points, this appointment, is relevant to what has been Gaultier RTW since it soft relaunch. He will have to open his spectrum because Gen-Z clearly cannot afford Couture.

I really like it. Even if it can be a bit tricky to sell, I think this is a nice direction for JPG. At least it triggers some emotions, and that's already something. It's also definitely better than Versace since it has a focused POV, and created a coherent story that's actually relevant and doesn't feel outdated. Let's see where it can go, but so far, it's a rather good debut that's in tune with Jean Paul's trolling.

I'm a bit scared for couture, but maybe it will be more mature and less horny.

What I fear the most is becoming somewhat of a reality, that JPG has been reduced to trolling and sexy revealing clothes. I just don't want Gaultier be reduced to clothes for IG baddies. À la Mugler. One dimension is the worst thing that can happen to this house.
I only like the closing gold coat on Mica.

I think it's easy for him to tap into the more rebellious spirit of Gaultier, since they have that in common. The real challenge is does he has the duality to tap into a more bourgeois side of JPG.
Can he able to pull off the Hèrmes years of Gaultier, that people seem to forget is also part of the JPG universe.

I'll wait for the couture to have a full opinion about him.

LOVE the first part then I got lost .... somehow few kinky looks are adorable

its not bad but is this really what the brand needs after not showing any rtw for a while.. Where are the clothes

I never thought I'd miss LdSS, his collection for JPG compared to this pile of sh*t, because I don't know how else to describe it, it seems like a masterpiece.

Are we looking at the same collection because what does this have to do with JPG ? I see some stripes, trench coat, gender fluidity, bodysuits ... but so many other labels do that, too. How has he taken the energy and vibe of JPG and made it relevant ? No, I am not expecting cone bras and corsetry only, if at all. JPG did tailoring nicely and that would be nice to see. Not only does it not feel like JPG at all, it felt like this trolling aspect. Maybe he did such a horrendous collection so that we've got eyes on him and then the second season he will turn it out. That's all that I can think of as an excuse for this.

I'm just back from Instagram, Vogue's account published a few backstage pictures of this show. Usually the comment section of a Vogue post is pretty much about emoticons or short bits of sentence meant to mean the people who spent half a second publishing them like it soooo much. Here I mostly saw bad memes from people wanting to express how equally bad they think this should be considered.

I don't say I love it. But I surely enjoyed parts of it. I also don't want to forget JPG himself wasn't always the most subtle designer ever (he could use some subtlety but did not always take that route). I think what McQueen has become is WAY more tragic than a single outfit of Duran's take on JPG.

Some comments all over the internet would sound funny to me, as pointless as they are and how poorly written they are, if I did not suspect them to reflect something definitely sadder and scarier behind.
