JEAN PAUL GAULTIER AT HERMES
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER is to take over from Martin Margiela as the chief designer at the house of Hermes, it was confirmed this afternoon. The eccentric Frenchman will design the Hermes ready-to-wear line beginning with the autumn/winter 2004 collection. While Margiela is planning to concentrate on his own label once he gives up the responsibility of the Hermes collections, this will be the first time that Gaultier has turned his hand to designing anything other than his own label. The 51-year-old designer has long been associated with the house of Hermes, since it bought a 35 per cent stake in his business in 1999 for approximately $23 million. "The rumours about Jean Paul Gaultier's appointment at Hermes are true," a spokeswoman for the company said today. "We will be sad to see Martin Margiela go, but we are very excited about working with Gaultier." (May 19 2003, PM)

I certainly prefer Margiela for Hermes, his last collection was a "poem" but maybe he's been little too much on the intellectual side .. still i know Hermes were having a great commercial success with Margiella

I seriously prefer Margiela
How can JPG take over Hermes!
