[/QUOTE]anacori said:Also, so many people were hating her collection before they even saw it. How is this objective? Indeed, she's worn some cheesy outfits...but I seem to remember other celebrities, and yes designers wearing and producing some notable fashion mistakes...and they were not ghetto. Jennifer Lopez is a smart business woman, her fashion is not about high concepts, it is about finding one more product to sell to the demographic that is buying her music and paying to see her films. Can we really expect her line to include looks inspired by chanel, or yamamoto, or lanvin for example? Her fans dont want to dress like that, and the people who do want to dress like that are probably not interested in Lopez' product (fashion, film, nor music). They are two totally different markets. This is business folks.
You might be going a bit far here. 1) this is simply another case of someone who is famous for being famous who does not actually excel at anything trying their hand at a craft they have no talent at. She stinks as an actress, she stinks at singing, she stinks at designing. 2) Martha Stewart is a smart business woman, jLo-not so much. she is less a smart business woman and more an industry pawn willing to put her name and face (or well known *ss) on anything and everything. Britney Spears anyone? 3) The whole 2 seperate markets thing is crap - look at the line itself? No one who listens to her music or watches her movies would be interested in or could afford her new line, clearly she is trying to squeeze into the prestigous world of high fashion which is so very sad.
Yes, this was indeed the very highlight of all the FW05 collections. Classic.Luna said:
It's all summed up in this lovely ensemble!!

And I agree. I was just joking. Hence the .marrimoda said:Yes, and I certainly dont think it was at the same level of Sweetface/JLO.
Thats my opinion.

marrimoda said:One last point...how many designers actually sell everything they put on the runway in their shows? So why is this line expected to sell everything we saw in that show, when we all know there are many designers who dont sell the pieces in their shows.. As many people who actually work in the industry know, shows often are used to mainly to drive the perfume sales and licensing. I stand by my earlier statement -- despite you calling it crap. I cant believe we are still even debating la Lopez...its old news.
Kimkhuu said:The reason why everyone has their eyes on Lopez is that she's so "big" (as in powerful superstar ) and got so much press for such a terrible clothing line. We're debating Sweetface because it's ridiculous and UNFAIR to have someone really untalented in the designing departement (amont others ) who's getting loads of attention for something really terrible, when the real talents are not recognized for what they do.
Is it debatable?????? YES IT IS!
