Jennifer Lopez F/W 05.06 New York

again, I am discusted. Thank heaven for the ocean that divides creativity from crap.

i caught the show today...some of the things she said were very interesting...about not wanting to compete with the "couture" designers (i'm assuming she meant carolina, calvin, donna, etc.) because they were a sportswear company. she did make some good observations that the show had to be hot, and the original designs were not there and she was willing to cancel the show if the clothes weren't great (which many people here don't think they were anyway). she seemed more involved too than i originally thought. she had a hand in picking the models, choosing what girls would wear what, deciding on music, working with alex de betak on the show's set, etc.

i did see her wearing other designers stuff though...she had on a pair of d squared cargo pants and hat during one segment, and it looked like some michael kors too...

SPAM not allowed at tfs, thank you

I loved Simon Doonan's quote in last weeks Newsweek:

"We've only ourselves to blame because we've given celebrities these deranged feelings of omnipotence. She'll be doing brain surgery next" Simon Doonan, creative director at legendary New York fashion retailer Barneys, reacting to Jennifer Lopez's upstaging big-name designers with her debut during New York's Fashion Week
...funny...

I don't know what possessed me, but I watched the whole MTV special. The whole thing the left a bad taste in my mouth. It all looked cheap to me.

This posts reminds me of something that happened at school a few months ago. I was walking down the hall, when this girl asks her friend "Is that purse Chanel or JLo?" I was in shock. my ears were burning. lol It was very odd.

DSquared + Fendi(without the wit) + Versace = Sweetface

She has no personal looks, any random fashion wannabe could have done that.
:shifty: i speak on behalf of versace here no offence to the other two brands intended but versace is about sexuality and power about knowing what you want and doing whatever it takes to get what you want or make men drop at your feet it just doesnt belong in that equation

we could say

Dsquad + Fendi + ? = Sweetface

but versace has left the equation :shifty:

DSquared + Fendi (without the wit) ?!?!?! Even though that would make a VERY horrible result, it would still be too good compared to sweetface.

Am I nice? :D

J Lo is a triple threat, Singing, Dancing and Acting, all of which she does very well. She not a 4 time winner and needs to stick to singing, dancing and acting.

My God, what was she thinking!

Also, so many people were hating her collection before they even saw it. How is this objective? Indeed, she's worn some cheesy outfits...but I seem to remember other celebrities, and yes designers wearing and producing some notable fashion mistakes...and they were not ghetto. Jennifer Lopez is a smart business woman, her fashion is not about high concepts, it is about finding one more product to sell to the demographic that is buying her music and paying to see her films. Can we really expect her line to include looks inspired by chanel, or yamamoto, or lanvin for example? Her fans dont want to dress like that, and the people who do want to dress like that are probably not interested in Lopez' product (fashion, film, nor music). They are two totally different markets. This is business folks.[/QUOTE]

You might be going a bit far here. 1) this is simply another case of someone who is famous for being famous who does not actually excel at anything trying their hand at a craft they have no talent at. She stinks as an actress, she stinks at singing, she stinks at designing. 2) Martha Stewart is a smart business woman, :innocent: jLo-not so much. she is less a smart business woman and more an industry pawn willing to put her name and face (or well known *ss) on anything and everything. Britney Spears anyone? 3) The whole 2 seperate markets thing is crap - look at the line itself? No one who listens to her music or watches her movies would be interested in or could afford her new line, clearly she is trying to squeeze into the prestigous world of high fashion which is so very sad.

WHAT! She doesn't do any of those things well. She is marginal at best at acting, a disgrace to the art of song, and, okay fine, she can dance. She should have stuck to dance.

Chanel or JLo? As if there is a comparison. Maybe that person was legally blind? It is the only explanation.

If you dropped me off at the mall, I could find this same outfit in twenty minutes.
Yeah you could...at Abercrombie where all the 14 yr olds shop:innocent:

Did J-LO REALLY design this?

I was checking out Jennifer Lopez' latest collection Sweetface, 'nd I found out it wasn't that bad.

and now I was wondering..
does Jennifer really design this all by herself?
Or is it a big team that carries her name or something like that?!

'nd What do you guys think about it?
