Jil Sander Pre-Fall 2024 Milan

Guys, it’s 2024. Isn’t it a little bit to late to copy Phoebe?

I know Phoebe took inspiration from Jil, but this just looks too Phoebe and not in a good way even. So… uninspired.

I prefer this way more than FW2024. Much more streamlined and the silhouettes have been tightened somewhat.

A bastard version of

I love this. Great model casting, loved the range of bags. Color palette was really across the board, so you can dress this up or dress it down. The model casting keeps things modern. Like that they chose lesser known faces. Always love that.

I don’t quite see what the Meiers are bringing to the table honestly. The color pallet and choice of fabrics have been covered by old Céline and Loewe already. The womenswear looks are better than the menswear ones, but not by much.
It’s a bit difficult to even review their clothes, as it’s just very on trend. I like the red Chelsea boots, but again, Phoebe much? (Celine ss16) The chain-pocket detail on the menswear is nice, but not exactly an “ah-ha” moment for me.
This may be personal preference, but their look would be wayy more interesting if everything was fitted / tailored. Or maybe i’m just desperate for someone to hop off the oversized & baggy bandwagon.
To their credit this is just pre-fall, so we’ll see if Lucie and Luke are really putting in the work when f/w rolls around.

Also - can we change up the campaign aesthetic? Celine has been doing this since 2012. Zzz

It's a lost cause with these two, they don't get Jil Sander, they're as clueless as the Highsnobiety kids who buy their logo-emblazoned tee shirts.

On another note, I do hope Jil Sander gives us one more round of something, at Uniqlo or elsewhere, to wrap up the fabulous legacy she will eventually leave behind. The fashion press hasn't been exactly kind with her but the response to her +J collection for Uniqlo showed that her design still feels right for our times and people want to wear it.

The big difference between Phoebe and her children is that she allows herself to have fun, to put silly pieces, to indulge in sexiness.
This is very serious and pretentious even though the clothes are fun.

But too much good taste kinda becomes insipid.

Sorry, but my username says it all. I'm not gonna lie, I like some of it (not love, though) because..... again see my username. Why am I going to even bother explaining myself? I am addicted to this and I doubt I will ever get bored. It's not like every brand is doing this anyway (and nailing it), it's just a niche of them who does and I want more of it. I love looking at it.
