Jil Sander Resort 2007

Not fond of the shiny pieces.
Luv the transparent orange top!

hmmm this does seem very simple...yet i do get this purist feel about it.. someone mentioned helmut .. i dunno if some ppl know the fact that raf was once quite influenced by helmut..but with respect to this collection, it definitely seems more Raf, but i shall echo some previous statements and say that he should stay away from dresses.. i hope raf doesnt disappoint his female fans like how chalayan disappoints his mens...not like the clothes are not good..but they seem to lack their spark and innovation.
nonetheless, i must say i really like the fabrics..and the first look and the black suit

A bit mediocre. It looks more bland than "clean". I love the black and yellow dresses but the others are questionable.

that's exactly my opinion...:( :(
the things that i think have potential are the straight skirts/athletic top looks..they might look better with a drawstring and flatter shoes. it's be interesting to see an athletic wear-inspired collection, it'd be very european.

gym clothes have the most fascinating details..

the fabrics are very nice, especially the shiny ones;
and the black one that seems to turn a bit maroon when the light hits it.

I like it! Its very practical and very very strict. I really love the materials he used..kinda reminds me of Helmut :D

hit or miss...

bad dresses ...
good sporty tops...which is actually very 90's ...:ermm:...

nothing particularly modern or new...
but really nice fabrics imo...

I agree.........it's very 90s in some respect, but blander. But the fabrics are very nice.

Raf always uses amazing fabrics... I really like the subtle sexiness of the clothes. The black mini dress is great too... :)

I don't think people are giving credit to the wearability in the product here. All these pieces can be worn separtely and taken apart to the discretion of the wearers own aesthetic. Which is what the Jil Sander label is all about. I think it is a smart move for Raf to stay basic at the time being. We have seen so many radical changes for the house of Sander of the years that it's image really needed to be reinstated. Jil Sander could have done a better job any day, imo, but today we are on someone else's terms. It is true though, that maybe Raf should stick with the sporty pullovers and tops before he starts messing with dresses again. A Jil Sander dress is a beautiful piece, something more like this...

MILAN — Jil Sander AG has tapped Balenciaga executive Michele Sodi to be president of Jil Sander America, a new position.

Sodi will oversee the brand’s wholesale and retail business in North America and will be based in New York. He starts on Monday and will report to Jil Sander chief executive Gian Giacomo Ferraris, who was a colleague when they worked at Gucci Group....

Anyone have the whole article?

^Agreed.

The last 3 dresses look a lot like something I could see Raf doing, though, particularly the last one.

^ i forgot who, but someone here said that it appears simons has raided the jil archives for his own men's collection..why not for the actualy label?

it just really ticks me off that these are the clothes that are supposed to epitomize minimalism...i don't even get what's so special about the fabrics.

maybe these are very very sellable clothes and there's is something i'm not getting.

*and,i usully don't agree with eveything faust says, but i think he's right in this case..

Raided? Raided?

And, don't twist my words, those dresses are something that I said I could see him doing on his own. Basically, those are the dresses I can personally see Raf designing.

And yes, this collection is rather bland-ish (I still like it), but don't forget it is only resort.

....

Don't forget some of the mediocre collections that came out of the design team and Milan Vukmirovic not too long ago. I would think Raf is trying to win back those customers who stopped buying Jil after those unforgiving seasons. Jil Sander was always about basics and still is. You could always go into their store and find the most beautiful white cashmere sweater or the best quality white dress shirts, which never went on sale, like Vuitton and Hermes.

ok, ok..agreed on the customer point..can be comapred to the gap, which has converted back to its basics for exactly the same reasons...

*and what vukmirovic did to jil during those seasons:yuk:

I like the simplicity of the pieces. They look like they could be easily worn and matched with anything.
