This is Givenchy copy (cheap way)
(I see a lot of Givenchy inspiration)
I don't like any of the looks... sorry

oh crap - it like bad mix of fall balmain mixed with previous balenciaga.

it's something to wonder about the NYFW collections up to date
the designers seem to be after perhaps, special pieces that you wear only to special events, one occasion etc.. as opposed to designing a wardrobe for everyday life

some people might argue buying basics cheaply and then splurging a bit on a designer dress

it's so true though. back when everyone had money, it was more important to look good all the time -- what works at work and can work at night -- but these days, those special nights have become even more special so people are splurging more on that one special night than trying to look fashion-y 24/7.

jill stuart is such a new york brand and while i can see all the balmain, balenciaga, and givenchy references, one can tell that she's putting out only what she thinks will sell. it goes to show that everyone who deplores that balmain look so much really doesn't understand what kind of retail gold that look has become.

^^^ good word to describe nyc collections balmainciagaivenchy lol

I am truly envious of anyone who got to attend this show it is absolutely amazing! I am loving every piece in the collection from the shoes to the jackets!!

<3 love love love!!!

p.s. does anyone have detail shots of this collection? or know where I could find them?

I'm loving those mesh dresses. They give off such a Gianni Versace vibe. The collection as a whole however seems so done before though to the point that I'm over it.

what is this **** ?

i cannot even tell if both the styling and the outfits are **** ... or if this is just **** in stick ...

wow. what a disappointment. there are maybe two or three pieces i actually like but everything else has been overdone or is just plain gaudy.

i also second being fed up with all this 80's inspired fashion and anything that reminds me of balenciaga is a big DNW.

and what in the hayl are those half-calf leggings. really, REALLY?

I barely see any Balmain to be honest. What I'm seeing is a SH!T load of Givenchy. The black slashed suit, the draping, the studding, the open boots, the sleek makeup and simple hairstyle. This has Givenchy ALL over it.

lol the sad thing about New York Fashion Week though, is that when the designers copy Balenciaga and Givenchy their collections end up looking way better than the designers who try to be "original".

^ oh i couldn't agree more i love this collection but the influences seem so strong! And I think it always happens that way because the designers who copy the ones who are original always have more time to perfect the idea, because thy did not come up with it!

^also, they have the luxury of copying only the things that get good editorial coverage and sell well. further, they get to make them more palatable for their customer instead of actually taking the risk of challenging their customer.
