Jonathan Anderson - Designer, Creative Director of JW Anderson & Christian Dior

So far it's looking quite Kim Jonish , no?

The packaging is the one they used for Jewelry before MGC.

Twink in the garden is cute.

The cravate rouge no longer have cravates, that's kinda sad!

Joe Alwyn, Luca, Daniel Craig... JWA has brought some of his men over from Loewe. I wonder if Josh O'Connor will attend.

I'm hoping he will bring something different to the table rather than the logomania we've seen on the guests so far.

Delphine Arnault confirmed to Vogue Business that Dior has no plans to switch to co-ed shows
Apparently it will be co-ed.
So already I’m getting mixed messages from his first Dior show. I’m already exhausted and I haven’t even seen anything from it yet.

This is the one thing I hoped they didn’t/don’t do. I hate co-ed shows for the most part. Especially for a house like Dior where it’s best to keep them parallel to each other but never mixed. A unified vision is great, but not so unified it becomes less of a fashion collection and more of a uniform presentation.

Kpop guys are so scary.

I can't belive how much it looks like Kim Jones so far with a little bit of KVA.

The one side of the shirt collar up has me like this :ninjas::ermm::yikes: Makes me nervous lol

Seeing the parade of celebs disguised as stylish people makes me think how ridiculous menswear is... lmao. I don't get how a woman can find a man like those attractive.

Is the womenswear we are seeing by him too?

But I do think a lot of it resembles his menswear at his own brand and Loewe as well.

Josh O'Connor arriving with Lakeith Stanfield reminds me of when he arrived with Ayo Edebiri one time for a Loewe show. Sabrina Carpenter looks cute with her hair styled like that.

Nina Christen is the new design director for the shoes. Very exciting news.

She did absolutely amazing at BV, Celine and Loewe. 😍😍😍

Thank you for pointing that out, now I know who’s been the driving force behind all that defined the footwear of the last 10+ years - The ugly toe boxes and heel shapes in particular.

I still notice with disbelieve how so many women seem to love these kind of shoes, when there are plenty other designers who also make wearable and comfortable shoes - but when the style has since also found it’s way into the work of people like Pierre Hardy, I will have to accept this is what the customer today wants…

i liked allot of it i wants some stuff for real daily wear

i like the JWA x Uniqlo x Dior reality of it some parts where too infantile like the versaille coats where done weak.

but he made most basic dior embroidered pieces relevant even the book tote´s where cool and the new cargo bag i want for traveling

i am going to the dark side :-)

music also nice casting also cool mix

The Dracula etc book tote makes sense after the men’s debut now. it’s a very clever way of realistically translating this women’s best seller into men’s universe for once.

Curious to see what he will do with these on women’s sides now.

Isn't there typically an in-depth, high profile interview with a new creative director that's published the day before or day-of a début collection?

Underwhelmed that Cathy Horyn, Vanessa Friedman, or Nicole Phelps didn't land this for JWA Dior...

Didn’t you see how tired he was at LV?

They did a WWD profile on him before the show.
On paper its a lot of work, but in reality (as a big fan of Jonathan's later years at Loewe) he has chased this Dior appointment entirely and ambitiously wanted everything (Mens, Womens, HC) and all art direction under his scope (of course its his process and ability to do brand building).
I would say he has looked this 'tired' the last 2 years of Loewe already, but not just purely from this Dior homme show (he had time and decided to go to the LV Men's show before his debut show, when he could've e.g. still been in fittings so it shows everything was done to his satisfactory).
He is quite clear in what he wants and its more about the image and overall story rather than thinking of it like a luxury garment should be fit perfectly for what you pay for etc. He already gives Benjamin Bruno and his JW team to do the final FTS themselves already for the last 1 year pre Dior.
I have mixed feelings about the collection but its fine its only a 1st mens show and he's in it for the long haul so am sure we'll see many variations and developments in the next few years. But I would say any teasers, posters, post-show backstage interviews and the WWD one with Delphine is very explanatory about what his take has been, there doesn't seem to be anything further to break down.

Although the pressure is high, he has also the more comfortable position. He is going to show womens in October and Haute Couture in January. In a way, we have to wait still six months to fully judge his vision for Dior.
Whereas for Mathieu his first show is going to be more determinant, because it will "explain" how he envisions Chanel.
Not to speak of Demna's show for Gucci, that many expect to save Kering from disaster and needs to be successful from second one.

^ That's literally how reposting on instagram works, it wasn't his choice to have that particular song, he just didn't manage to mute it... and I don't think it's only Jonathan managing his account either.
