Jonathan Anderson - Designer, Creative Director of JW Anderson & Christian Dior

Jonathan and Raf make me feel like I'm being intellectually gaslighted, but like yeah I know it is a plastic flip flop or a 1000 euro copy of a Nike Considered Mid trainer in the exact same colours, construction so just call a spade a spade?

LOL Maria Grazia is gonna laughing her **** off by looking at these first two womenswear outcomes: her book tote turning into an art school project object with those ridicolous book title / quote prints and the Lady Dior turning into a Bratz accessory with that tacky little bow addition. If this bag becomes a hit while Maria Grazia 95.22 Lady Dior flopped I swear I am gonna scream so hard and yell at customers with no taste.

As if the book tote was ever a dignified object...

The only interesting and charming accessory from this tenure so far is this Lady Dior Art with tassels applique
The sneakers from the menswear are plain ugly and so are the oversized messenger bags with oblique logo and CD buckle...

Those Lady Dior are Lady Dior…
Nothing groundbreaking in itself. More curious to see which new bag he will introduce to Dior women.

I didn’t realized but MGC relaunched another Galliano bag…The street-chic from 2002. Her tenure was really making no sense at all. She just threw products hoping it may stick.

I’m much more curious to see how JWA will eliminate, edit and make Dior more coherent in terms of products/vision.

I'm so ready to see the Lady Dior turning into the Dior version of CHANEL 11.12 with the 10k starting price point LOL
It’s already available in stores. All their exotics starts around those prices.

I really hope he’ll create collections where we can actually feel the shift season after season.
Like:
“Ah, that one? Definitely SS 2026.”
“Oh, and that? For sure Pre-Fall 2027.”

Not like his predecessor
where most seasons looked like a minor remix of the same moodboard from 2017.
Fashion’s not supposed to feel like shampoo instructions.
But under his Predecessor?
It’s all just rinse, repeat, Dior.

With Jonathan, at least there’s hope.🤞🏻
He may be conceptual, but he doesn’t repeat himself like a broken slogan tee.

If I see one more tulle tutu skirt paired with a slogan T-shirt, I’m suing for visual fatigue!!

Not strictly to do with just JWA, but I always wonder what houses' full-time couture staff do when they decide to skip a season. No doubt they still have orders to fulfil from previous shows, but a good chunk of the permanent seamstress's time is usually spent working on the new collections. Do they all just go on holiday? Or get reassigned to the ready-to-wear team?

Virgil Abloh's "three percent rule" said that changing something by just 3% you can make it feel totally innovative and fresh, yet still familiar.
That Lady Dior with the tiny bow is Jonathan's heartfelt homage to this philosophy, that only the most conceptual and sophisticated customers will understand 🤭

A vacation on the dime of France’s richest man? Something doesn’t quite sit right. :ninjas:

Most likely, JWA has already started laying out some ideas, construction styles, material research, maybe studying archival pieces to inspire new designs. At the same time, expect to see a few meticulously constructed pieces in the rtw collection + the atelier is probably still busy fulfilling those $200K coat preorders

Ok, we know you are Irish...what´s the point of covering the Lady Dior with clovers?? What´s next, renaming the bag to Lady Leprechaun??

Another Lady Dior with just a single bow...WOW! I can´t with that creative overdose. The same with the tassel covered one. Well, there is no need to make collabs with artists, because it seems Johnny is going to customize all Dior bags by himself!

They are busy all the time, all-year round, except for August of course when everyone goes on holiday. The shows are just a tiny part of what the haute couture ateliers do. A lot of the flou atelier for example are constantly at work on wedding gowns throughout the year. Keep in mind how long these dresses take to make (sometimes two-three months for one dress).
