These red carpet avant garde looks are giving...Nicholas Ghesquiere attempts at making LV red carpet relevant: overdesigned, overthought, overstyled.
Now don't tell me these looks like JWA Dior LOL, the only difference between the two is that NG loves sharp edges while JWA likes them smooth and rounded LOL

Imagine being an actress that finally secures a contract with a major label, where you think you've achieved a level of visibility and financial success, only to have your red carpet legacy become photos that never go away of you wearing a series of testicular ballgowns or something that looks like a disposable paper lantern.

that's why many of them looked so sad

I was under the impression the poor helpless creatures would have access to options? Maybe even a personal stylist to veto the most ridiculous propositions?

Maybe we should start a petition to get these unfortunate souls a protection order against select houses so they couldn't embarrass them further. 🤔

Maybe JW needs Patrick as the head of Couture and Redcarpet.
Those dresses needs editing. Unnecessary over-design.
I’m glad you said it. The one Mia has on… unnecessary is the perfect word. The design doesn’t justify itself, visually. A complicated design should still have you/your eyes intuitively ‘get’ the whole. There must be a balance between creativity and sense.

Some of these looks are awful ! I am so far very disappointed with JWA at Dior. This is not what I expected ... nowhere near it. I know it is red carpet dressing, but still ! Even Natalie Portman's dress is close to being good, but it's just off. Don't get me started on those Ghesquière looks for Louis Vuitton.

What even is this era of fashion that we are in ? Why is it so hard or even looked down upon to create something that is beautiful and for a woman ?

The only difference is that NG can totally experiment on the Redcarpet as very few dresses actually make it into production. It’s sharp, fully executed in it weirdness.

The general concern over JWA has less to do with the designs themselves but the perspective of Haute Couture in January…

More recent Vuitton redcarpets have been much better than these two...

To be totally fair, those two Vuitton looks are criminal, but not lacking in technique. You cannot correct anything in the red lantern one to make it more flattering without changing the dress. It is just vile and needs to be burnt in its entirety.

Whereas at Dior and Chanel, the first natural reaction is to correct the flaws, because they look amateurish and not mastered.

Burning is done in seconds and can be fun, whereas correcting flaws takes longer and it's annoying.

I agree with Lola: fasten your seatbelts for Haute Couture, turbulence ahead.

Its setting up dior to be able to sell basic store merch as runway looks chanel been doing this for a while commercially it works often when you put commercial pieces in shows or looks book etc, people sadly fall for it when being sold on shop floor its a looks items so you also get charged more for it.

it's like the famous this is our best seller story in stores.

i get it but it looks bad cheap and junior asf

I'm sorry, but these lookbook ensembles are so pedestrian and juvenile looking, they don't look elevated at all...they could fit a "Miss Dior" Teen Vogue capsule collection, but as a main offering it's not working. The denim miniskirts and pants are just vile. It's giving "let's capitalize on the asian market with a preppy and more romantic / less layered version of Miu Miu". I don't know about you but I was picturing JWA Dior as a quirky mix of Raf Simons intellectualism and MGC commercialism but currently we're getting watered down JWA LFW show with macrocannage quilting.
MGC is eating JWA alive...sorry not sorry LOL

So the quality-improvement-promise of Delphine is translating into denim galore at Dior.
This house baffles me more, and more, and more.
