They just keep rolling in... :-D

Racism in the fashion industry is exposed by supermodel, Jourdan Dunn. The 23-year old is energetically expressing her beauty on the cover of Miss Vogue April issue. She disclosed her struggles in the fashion industry and the openness of discrimination.
Her experience in modeling inspired her to speak out about the issues that the industry is constantly dealing with. She expressed that she has been turned down for casting calls because they are not looking for blacks, while some white make-up artist have refused to do her make-up before a show.
“I don’t know why people applaud designers for having just one ethnic model. It’s not like only one type of woman loves fashion,” said Dunn.
The campaign to raise the awareness for diversity within the fashion industry has called the attention of several models. Channel Iman and Joan Smalls have spoken out about their encounters in the industry as well. At New York Fashion Week (Spring/Summer 2014), 79.98 percent of the models were white.
The efforts of Bethann Hardison who is leading the Diversity Coalition campaign along with Naomi Campbell and Iman have made small progress in diversity.
“So we will continue to watch and reveal season to season,” writes Diversity Coalition. “Diversifying is not difficult. The resistance to do is intriguing.”
Calvin Klien and Tocca have failed to use models of color which really identifies their target market.
“I want to talk about what goes on. A lot of people are scared to speak up,” said Dunn.
The stunning British model is ready to spark change in the industry and address agent’s insensitive approaches to the models profession.
“I find it weird when [model] agents say `You’re the only black girl booked for the show. Isn’t it great?’ Why is it great?”
Dunn has boldly exposed the fashion industry while challenging them to integrate diversity. Her efforts along with the Diversity Coalition could definitely address change in the industry.
