there's something far deeper and more hurtful when your fellow colleague you admire humiliates you in front of other colleagues that even tabloids nor the media can't equate. as 50 Cent strongly said, "it's damaging".

I think the HUGE bottle he was drinking out of before the show started most likely has alot to do with it..


However, I think Jay-Z put it right when he said "He didn't kill anybody. No one got harmed."

It was a crappy thing to do but who has come off worse from it... Not Taylor.

Alright I love that this thread is still going on a week later, but apparently Taylor and Kanye have the same agent (some guy named David Wirtschafter) so I'm starting to think that it might have been staged because this guy manages 50 cent too (remember the 50/kanye feud a few years ago?)...My point is that it was wrong for Kanye to do what he did but I'm sure their agent is going to get them together, they'll do a duet and it'll be a huge kumbaya celebration. she was the perfect victim, A TEENAGER. A YOUNG GIRL. That is simply wrong and why he's getting lots of disdain, disgust from alot of people. Then there was her family. This girl's mother was there too. How'd you feel being the mother? Taylor could be your sister, your daughter, your cousin, best friend, friend, next door neighbor, your neice. Artists are known for their artistic temperaments. Sure there are those who display humility and politeness, but those are the rarity and that's why the public react so positively to them. The list of artists throughout history who have famous egos and were prone to violent outbursts can go on for pages. Compared to them, Kanye might seem as harmless as a bunny.

If you watch the video where Obama makes his comment, they're in makeup, the guy in the chair next to him is getting powdered. Someone asks him about it, making small talk--he responds. I would be rather horrified if he had responded, 'I'm the President, I can't possibly comment on that.'

you can have the same agent (music, modeling, acting) and there's no way you can control your client's behavior.
if you're insinuating this was a set up given to rumors being circulated, you're very mistakened.

I think this was blown out of proportion and really not that big of a deal. Its the VMAs not the Grammys. At the end of the day she got her award, and a nice anecdote to share along with it!

Same here. Kanye has been slightly irrelevant to the music world for the past few months and now we're all taking about him so I think he knew what he was doing when he did it. I don't condone his behavior, but what he did doesn't make me any less of a Kanye fan as I was before. To love Kanye is to know him and by this stage in the game we should all know that he's known for voicing his opinion even if it's not the appropriate time. This was one such example

PS: On a sidenote that has nothing to do with this issue or about civility/etiquette, West's music is miles better than Swift's. I can't listen to Swift's without gagging at the cheesy cheeseball lyrics.
