Karl Lagerfeld S/S 08 Paris

catwalking has updated, can someone post the pictures?

Thank you!!! So much better than Fendi! I love this collection B) and I especially love Snejana and Sasha's outfit. I just don't like Carmen's collar on her dress, it's distracting.

mini review from the wall street journal

Karl Lagerfeld, at 74 years old, is a fashion multi-tasker.
In addition to designing several collections a year for Chanel, where he has worked for 25 years, he also is the longtime creative director of LVMH’s Fendi label.

Today, unveiling the collection for the third and smaller brand he designs — the Karl Lagerfeld collection — he sought inspiration from the 1980s club scene.
He presented a collection of angular tailored jackets and tight one-shouldered mini-dresses in bright colors against a backdrop of a neon rainbow. Models wore chunky lucite accessories, like drop earrings shaped like a triangle, and spiked headbands.
“Karl’s girl has a bit of sweetness with an ‘S&M’ edge,” says Ann Watson, fashion director at Henri Bendel in New York.
Mr. Lagerfeld’s label has struggled to craft a distinct identity in the marketplace, underscoring the difficulty—no matter how famous the designer—of developing a brand from scratch, as opposed to drawing on the long history of an established label.
Tommy Hilfiger Corp., which bought the Karl Lagerfeld brand in 2005 for about $30 million, threw an elaborate fashion show in New York last year to fete the launch of the collection of $150 T-shirts and $400 sweaters in the U.S. It was then discontinued after one disappointing season. (Mr. Lagerfeld himself remarked to Women’s Wear Daily that the collection was too expensive.)
Tommy Hilfiger was bought by private-equity fund Apax Partners last year. Following the acquisition, Mr. Lagerfeld’s brand took a backseat to Apax’s plans to overhaul the Hilfiger label. Fred Gehring, chief executive of Tommy Hilfiger, attended the Lagerfeld show but declined to answer questions backstage.
A Hilfiger spokeswoman said that relaunching the brand in the U.S. for the Spring 2008 season remains “a possibility.”
Representatives from Neiman Marcus, Henri Bendel and Bergdorf Goodman were all at the show, though it remains to be seen if they will buy the collection.

Mmm, Tommy Hilfiger and Lagerfeld. A match made in heaven.
I really can't believe the amount of rave reviews for this collection and pure acid for others. I don't actually see anything original in any of those details or lengths(short-long-wide and tight). Sheer pants and ra-ra skirts, seen it already. What's worse, it's only ever in black or a bit of white. A rainbow runway is just a distraction to clothes that look like they were sewn together at the last moment.

can you really push these stank little transparent mini dresses next to the oversized, tiered flare skirts, it just seems unfocused and a little easy considering the expectations we all have on what will be shown for chanel. since he designs for someone else's house maybe he should give karl lagerfeld to someone else, could be a lovely entry into womenswear for hedi.

I'm always bored with Lagerfeld's collections

I'm conflicted. I think it is quite good, but at the same time, I am feeling that it is just trying so damn hard to be cool and get on all the scenesters at misshapes

That isn't Maria Carla's...area. It's a seam going down the front of the leotard over a nude thong.

This is kinda boring....except for the background.

The only collection I like from Lagerfeld was when he showed in New York. Why can't he do it again!!
