No, seriously Donald- say what's on your mind...
Trump Called A 'NY Clown' In Spat With Angry Scots
ABERDEEN, Scotland (CBS) ―
Donald Trump is being called a clown as he trades insults with those teed off about a golf resort he's trying to build in Scotland.
Trump is trying to buy up land from property owners, but the Scots are refusing to budge.
Trump's private plane is a familiar sight in Scotland now that he's begun building what he calls, "the greatest golf course in the world."
But some of the locals wish Trump would go and play elsewhere.
"He's just a downright liar. He's arrogant, he's ignorant, what more can I say?" asked Trump opponent Molly Forbes.
Forbes lives on a run down farm with her son, Michael, right in the middle of Trump's planned resort. And $700,000 from "the Donald" won't entice them to sell the property they call "paradise."
Trump calls it a "pig's sty."
"It's a slum, I mean it's horrible the way he maintains it. Now I don't know if he's doing that on purpose, I don't think so, I think he just, that's the way he maintains his property," Trump said.
Trump called Forbes "the village idiot" for refusing to budge. Forbes retaliated, calling Trump "a New York Clown" with no respect for Scotland.
Trump has said his project is close to his heart because he doesn't have to reach far to find his own Scottish heritage. His mother was a Macleod, a proud Scottish clan.
Trump has renamed the stretch of land, "The Great Dunes of Scotland" in honor of his mother. But some Scottish protesters have vowed to trip up Trump by setting their own sand trap.
They've bought some of Forbes' land and have nicknamed it their "bunker." Golfers may have to face demonstrators as they swing through the 18-hole course.
Despite the problems, Trump promises golfers will be teeing off in 18 months. He dismissed the idea that the protests would hurt business at the resort and he thinks the ongoing controversy will eventually attract more visitors.
