La prairie skincare thread

Well, in Swiss la prairie facial is one of the standard though the products are expensive. Normal facial with scrub and mask is around 105 Euro.

Ok so I had my LP facial today, it was my first facial ever!!!

It was nice, she asked a lot about my skin and then applied basically most of the regular LP products I use at home.
In order, she used the Comforting Cleanser> Essential Exfoliant> A mask ( forgot which one)>Balancing Lotion> Hydrating serum> Time Release Moisturiser> Eye Contour> Lip Renewal.
My skin felt good afterward, but I think an amazing massage does more wonders for my skin. It was weird walking around afterward because I would catch myself in the mirror and see that I have no make up on and my skin was super glossy.

I was speaking with the consultant about the Ampoules they have, has anyone tried these? Apparently it gives your skin a 'boost', you get a box of little bottles and use them instead of serum for a month then you go back to your regular serum. They say to do it twice a year or something. Have you tried it Adrina?

Hi...., glad to know you like it. Yes, I tried the ampouls in Mai 08. The purpose of the facialist gave me was I need the boost for my skin. Looked dull before. After that I had a healthy looking skin in 3 weeks. It was great. ;).

La Prairie facials are nice. Did they give you a arm and hand massage while the mask was on? I wish I could use the Comforting Cleansing Emulsion but mineral oil is too occlusive, so none of that for my skin.

I have always wanted to try the Skin Caviar Ampoules. Did you mean these or the regular Cellular Cycle Ampoules? Both are an intervention for your skin, basically. I just havent wanted to spend $550 on the Skin Caviar ones, and now since I dont use La Prairie anymore, minus the Foam Cleanser, Anti-Redness Nurturing Cream, and their Cellular Softening and Balancing Lotion, I probably wont.

Yeah she put cream on my arms and hands while the mask was on. Mineral oil? That sounds bad
I love the way you describe ampoules as an 'intervention'....it sounds like tv therapy
I'm interested in the cellular ampoules, the caviar range doesn't do much for my skin and I hate firming products. I really do wanna try them!! They showed me the box with seven little glass bottles with white powder (vitamin C) and seven little plastic squirt bottles with pink liquid that you mix with it...it reminded me of the Dr. Sebagh vials of vitamin C powder (I've only sampled that on my arm though).
If I do cave into the $500 price tag, I'll be sure to report back :)
I don't use their foaming cleanser, it's too strong and it makes my skin too queeky clean  I hate that firm feeling  anti redness nuturing cream sounds nice, I've never tried it. The softening and balancing lotion was nice (because I can't stand the blue toner it makes my skin sting!! I always get free bottles of it when I buy their kits) But I feel like toner is kinda a waste of money...
Anyway what product/ brand are you using now instead of La Prairie??

i still love their toners. i have always gotten the blue toner also from the little gifts they give. the cellular softening+balancing one is nice and very hydrating but a little goes so long, so this applied with the glycolic acid serum after and then some of the anti-redness nurturing cream, def wake up to glowing skin. i actually have their glycolic acid serum, the retexturizer so, 4 products of theirs i have. the toners are lovely, the foam cleanser i use couple times a week when i really need to get crap off my face and i'm prepping it for exfoliating and extractions it's nice.

oh and the ampoules you are describing are the Cellular Cycle Ampoules, they retail for $350, its the Skin Caviar Ampoules that are $550. :flower:

so i am not entirely done with la prairie. i like the foam cleanser and their toners, and will keep purchasing them, but once the glycolic acid serum is gone i wont be repurchasing because for the same amount i get Natura Bisse's Glyco Peeling 50% and it is nicer imo.

i use those four La Prairie products, then use mostly Natura Bisse and Biologue Recherche. ;)

^^ The cellular ampoules retail for $500 in Australia, plus I get 10% off (work discount) so I'll be up for $450 if I wanna try it :(
Natura Bisse and Biologue Recherche sound good, I'll have to check them out. I love the retexturiser too you wake up like a million dollars!!!

i would always recommend their retexturizing booster, it's the best product i've ever put on my skin. I've been using it for 3 years now, and my skin always looks amazing.
also, i mostly buy the products off ebay where you can get them for almost half the retail price, so it's not that expensive.

Yes, my friend who I got into La Prairie sometimes buys it off ebay, but I dont like doing that. Just something about it...I'm too suspicious and paranoid about its exp. date, plus I'm such a sucker for going to the La Prairie counter.

I went to see my friends yesterday at La Prairie counter inside a Nordstrom. We discussed the new $1000 cream, the Platinum they call it, and I had this product, also new, the Skin Caviar Crystalline Serum Concentrate...it is so luxurious, I wanted instantly to smother my face in it! :(:lol:

La Prairie 'Skin Caviar' Crystalline Concentre

Re-ignite your skin's luminosity: 1 diamond-infused drop, 1 sumptuous moment, 1 re-ignited face.

Skin Caviar Crystalline Concentre represents the quintessential formulation of a nutrient-rich serum that re-firms, re-plumps, and re-ignites luminosity in your skin. Diamond and quartz crystals, high-tech peptides, amino acids, alpha hydroxy acids, and plant extracts combine to help smooth skin, while caviar extracts and La Prairie's exclusive Cellular Complex help stimulate the skin's natural repair process, moisturizing and energizing with nutrients that encourage optimal functioning.

Re-firms: Caviar extracts firm and nourish. Firming active complex helps improve dermis density, resulting in smoother skin. Natural amino acid from molasses promotes water retention. Skin becomes more elastic, uniform and radiant.

Re-plumps: Asian root extract helps add volume to wrinkles for smoother-looking skin. Duo of peptides stimulates collagen synthesis and fills out wrinkles from within.

Re-ignites: Diamond, liquid, and quartz crystals plus mica provide luminosity. Brightening complex helps inhibit production of melanin for spotless, more radiant-looking skin. Double AHA complex, with patented delivery system, refines without irritation. Provides anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.

I ended up purchasing a toner and got a gift with purchase. They're free shipping it to me because the gift date isnt until this week.

I guess I'm reviving this thread ^_^

I haven't been using La Prairie for very long, I impulse purchased their Smart Cellular Cream a few months ago and loved it. When I went to pick up some more the SA recommended their Anti-Aging Emulsion because it has a higher spf, I'm not sure how much anti-aging my skin really needs, although I guess if I start before I get wrinkles maybe I'll stave them off for longer!

The Smart Cellular Cream was amazing for my often quite oily skin and I was worried the Anti-Aging Emulsion wouldn't be as good but I wore it today for the first time (in the sun!) and my skin was fine all day.

It is quite expensive, but La Prairie is the best moisteriser I've tried so I think it's probably worth the price tag, for me anyway.

What is everyone's favourite La Prairie product? Since I'm new to the brand...

I always get the name mixed up of the product that I am using when I am not holding it in my hand! It is the moisturising cream with SPF thirty. I think it's from the cellular range. I love it and I have the eye-cream from that range aswell.

La Prairie's Cellular Cream Platinum Rare over US$1000 a jar

Has anyone actually tried La Prairie's Cellular Cream Platinum Rare? It retails for HKD$8900 in Hong Kong which is over US$1,100! Apparently it's got platinum in it which is why it's so expensive. Comes with a Swarovski crystal spatula. Talk about over the top!

whoops sorry about that! I did a search on La Prairie using the forum search and it came up with all these random model topics!

I remember when the La Prairie Radiance Cream came out, it was $500. Now it retails for $570. And there is a $700 size of Skin Caviar Luxe Cream. Not surprised that La Prairie released this $1000 cream for 1.7 oz. There is also a 1.0 oz for $650. And Cellular Serum Platinum Rare. I would buy these if I had the money. Just because I love La Prairie, but instead I hope to get a job with a store that sells La Prairie so I can get a good discount! ^_^

Here's info page for the Cellular Cream Platinum Rare. It's beautiful packaging, and the cream is white.

i would be very weary of this product.

the normal cellular radiance cream is basically just a rich emollient moisturizer. the antioxidants will become unstable because of the jar packaging (exposure to light and air) shortly after opening and the minerals which give the complexion radiance is purely cosmetic, and will not last when washed off.

the other ingredients used (plant and natural ingredients) have very little research to suggest their effectiveness. especially when applied topically, and in such small amounts.

i'm assuming the same could be said for platinum. the research, if any, would be extremely limited as to how effective it is as a skin care ingredient. the only reason they include such an ingredient is to allude towards luxury and increase the retail price.

if you are seriously considering purchasing, contact La Prairie and request the ingredient information and any research behind their claims towards this product.

I wanna try platinum!! Wonder if they'll give me a sample
Out of all the creams I've tried from LP I like cellular the best...lucky cos it's their cheapest line.

I have to also. Although I have had nice sample sizes of the Radiance Cream, when I've done a GWP.

Havent tried the Cellular Day and Night Creams...but I love the Cellular Eye Contour Cream...everything's going up though...I remember that eye cream was $100 when I first bought it about 6 or 7 years ago. It's now $125.

And their serums, which started out when first released, at $150..have inched up in the past two years, to $170, and just in the past month they've added $15 extra on:blink: They're all $185 now, and I really like the Hydrator, the Desensitizing, and the Retexturizer, but I cant afford these price increases, heavens!!:o:rolleyes:
