Mad for Lad
I got my suit from my friend in Japan last week, and I have to say, I'm quite enamored of this brand. Not only do they have a very comprehensive website, but when I received my suit, I wasn't ready for all the little branded and fabulously designed peripherals that were included, as well as the high quality of the tailoring. I just wanted to share with you guys the little details that made the already fabulously-fitting suit even more fab. And for under $700, I thought this purchase was a bargain!
The tailoring on this suit was incredible. I also forgot to mention that the back vents in the jacket were tacked shut too, and aside from a bit of bunching around the collar (just a bit - I'm thinking it's because I work out a bit more than the average japanese shopper), it was amazing. At first I was a bit miffed that I ordered the twill because I thought it would be heavier and not as prone to wrinkling (the wrinkles you see in the pants and sleeves are due to the fact that I wore it already), but it actually would spring back fairly well with a little steam, and I'm thinking maybe I need to buy the different fabrications of this style (must... hold... back...!)
They also included a show lookbook that was great but ultimately nothing new. I'm kind of in love with Lad's clean lines for this collection, punctuated by forward details that, while trendy, make the items different in a way that's not too obvious - short, 1st-hip length jacket, intentionally looooong sleeves, slim low-rise pants with pockets designed not to interrupt the line. It reminds me of Dior Homme when it first came out, but distilled to a point that the ideas are there, without the brand being all-important, but the clothing makes
you look better! I'm trying to hold myself back from purchasing way more than I should!
