i bought one too. the SAs call it the "vintage tote". by the way i checked with them its a seasonal item and will not be repeated next season...

well at least thats what the SAs at the Sinagpore store said. Because a few others queried about the bag and hence they tried to order from paris but they can't cos Lanvin is not producing it anymore. Therefore they are trying to source from the other regions. But who knows? if it sells well... (it should!! its a lovely bag!)

I checked the tag in mine and it is called the vintage kansas (kentucky -- how funny!) I've heard of other lines that have kansas bags and wonder if it's a specific style, like the boston.

I don't think the chain's detachable.. I kinda thought the chain adds a bit of antiqueness to the whole look..

the chain does not come off, but I would never want to -- it makes the bag special. this bag is by no means "long" and when I called barneys about it with only a general description ("lanvin tote"), the SA knew it was this one and didn't mention any other sizes. perhaps you were looking at another style?

Thanks Feefi and Lily! I can see what you mean. For me it's just that I'm not used to having a lot of gold hardware on a bag. But the look is def growing on me and the leather looks so amazing.
