I love this trend because a rise in the popularity of the leather/pvc pants look for women means that:
1) I get to see more ladies wearing leather, pvc, etc. [I'm not shy in saying that I enjoy it
], plus
2) There is, hopefully, a reduction in the "what the?!?!" reaction from the general public when a guy wears leather pants.
I guess my question is this: does anyone think that leather pants will ever reach a critical mass whereby they won't be viewed by so many in the general public as "what the?!?!". I'm asking because after reading through
many online polls, forums, etc, it's clear that leather pants, in terms of the look, is a very polarizing issue. Many many people sincerely think that unless one is in a Guns N Roses tribute band, or drives a Harley, then one has no business whatsoever wearing leather pants. Jackets, boots, gloves, hats, belts are all fine, but pants? No way!
Personally, I chose to say screw what "everyone" thinks and wear them, but I think there would have to be a dramatic increase in society's accpetance of leather pants for many people in general, guys especially, to embrace the look. Do you folks think that such a critical mass will ever happen or are leather pants so deeply entrenched in stereotypes that they will always be somewhat taboo?
