Leather can also be deceptive. I would compare leather to say 3" or 4" heels. Leather can convey many many images or stereotypes, but also often seems to carry with it an air of power and/or confidence. Maybe to some when they wear their leather they "get their b*tch on," but I have been around it enough to see that kind of subtle transformation. It doesn't happen with everyone, but some people most definitely have a subtle change in personality... But back to the start and the heels. How many women own jeans? How many own a really nice pair of jeans? Can you tell across a room that they are wearing a $500 pair versus a $125 pair? (Some people I know can) Now how many women own a pair of leather pants? You may not know if they are a $2300 pair of Gucci or a $450 pair of Andrew Marc across the room, but it will stand out a lot more than most other things.

I'm curious to hear opinions of this look. This isn't me [although we're similar in build] but it's a very good idea of the look that I go for with leather pants. One of my friends calls it the "European Tourist" look [which he means tongue in cheek, not as a slight - just FYI]. What I love is that it's none of the stereotypical leather pants images: when I see this ensemble, I don't see "rockstar" , "drug dealer", "S&M", "neo n - - -", "gay", or anything else. But that's me...

I am so lame. I finally bought a pair of these (I know, I'm wayyy late on this trend), but they were only $3 from Goodwill! They're the Target brand and they fit amazing believe it or not. I want to rock them with motorcycle boots

i have a question. i was looking for leather shorts, theyre hard to find but now i'm looking into lederhosen. they seem a great fit- high waist, short inseam, nice detailing. my only setbacks are that
[a] they're made for men so my booty might not fit (or worse), à la cheap monday, and
they might be recognizable as lederhosen, and even if it looked good, the fact that they're lederhosen is a little ridiculous, or even exploitative (like kilts or moccasins)

what do you think?

That look ( the guy) is pretty common to what I see or wear myself. Mock turtleneck or crew neck sweater works good. Cashmere blazers also go well.

On the lederhosen, you can also look for some older North Beach Leather or Claude Montana. Both did leather shorts with high waists. Escada might as well. I know I have a pair floating around somewhere.
