One day it's 'I'm doing the OdlR ladies who lunch look--I'm a socialite' in a below the knee dress, and the next it's 'I'm almost too cool to work at Vogue' in a goat hair mini. Who are you ...

isnt fashion about expressing yourself? maybe one day she feels like a classic lady and wants to dress like that. Other days she might feel like a rock star and she wants to dress like that. Fashion is about dressing however the hell you feel like and she seems to be doing just that! she is still young so she can get away with it. Obviously its working or she wouldnt be getting so much press about herself and her style so i think people are giving her a bad rap about this.

But what she wears is way too trendy and off the moment and there is 0 trace of personality/personal style.

Plus she is a try hard, i don't know her but the pics say it all for me.

I'm not bashing her, she does pull out dome great oufits but at this point she is as stylish as Olivia Palermo....

Possibly a little better, but yes, I totally think the same. They're both very "dead" with their style, no personality, sort of like trend-coordinating zombies. Palermo is alot more staid and formulaic though. At least Lauren doesn't look like a grandma all the time!

^^ I have to disagree, they have very different style, I think that their styles cannot even be compared!!
And their clothes are so different while Lauren opts for a head-to-toe outfit, Olivia is more about mixing high and low stuff.
Personally I find Lauren much more interesting (and stylish)

Agreed. I don't get why people are bashing her for having no personal style. I like her style just the way it is.

im not giving her a "pass" because she is park avenue bred. i generally dislike most socialites. given that, if people are going to say she has no style and agyness has loads of it, then there are very different opinions on what "style" is, and we should respect that. im simply defending her as a stylish woman who seems to be working her charms in the fashion world.

Just because someone wears designer brands doesn't mean the overall looks is nice.
I might be wrong but she really starting being notcied in the fashion world after she married into a very rich and influencial family.

I understand that you're saying is that a part of fashion is the fun of dressing up, of being able to change your identity through clothes, of experimenting and finding new styles.

I agree with all of the above. However, I don't get that sense of experimentation, and most importantly, of fun, from Ms. Domingo. When people like Anna Della Russo dress up (no matter how bizarre or inappropriate the outfit is), you can tell that she's having a crazy ball.

With Lauren Santo Domingo, everything feels calculated. It always seems like she's trying to hop on the "trendy" train. Proenza Schouler is hot now, so she'll wear Proenza Schouler. Giambasta Valli is the new Vogue favorite, so she'll wear Valli. Thus, her constant style-changing is more of an attempt to wear whatever's been declared as cool at the moment, rather than an act of personal experimentation and evolution.

There's no carefree casualty to her style, and that's probably why some people feel off-put to her, no matter how well-styled and well-dressed she is. Personally, I find her style very "Voguette", a clone of many other Vogue girls.

Also, the reason she's getting press is not because of her style.

Wow ok I hardly think anyone is giving her a free pass!

She is very contrived however she does have her moments where I'm like "ohh I like that and I'm going to copy her outfit idea " (like when she wore her goat hair skirt with the blue shirt and leather jacket, or the same skirt with a stripey Breton top and a double breasted jacket). But at the same time, I do think it's enjoyable to see someone playing with different outfits and different looks.

And for the comment about how she only started getting attention after her marriage - she has been on the radar for a while, and I'd say that the increase in attention is more because of the general interest that has arisen with editors in general, through the growing popularity of street style bloggers and interest in the actual people who work within the fashion industry.
