Legendary Designer Yves Saint Laurent Dies at 71

Im embarassed to say - I didnt know he was still alive...

still - its very sad. He was amazing.

Me too...:ninja:

But still...he was a legend that will live on forever through his work. I just got a book called Allure over the weekend by Diana Vreeland in a little used book shop and it features some of his great designs.

:ermm::cry: OH MY.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I'M VERY SAD!!! i know all he did everything he could give the world and it was so much more than enough, but it's the death of an icon, a legend and one (if not the only one) of the fathers of fashion design left :ninja:
heartbreaking. but his memory will always be within us.

Im so sad, R.I.P im really sad he was such a great visionaire he will defintely be missed

Oh, the debts fashion society owes him.

I hope he had a chance to say goodbye to the people he loved. That's all I'd care about.

Yes- as the USA Today said, he is second only to Coco Chanel... Can you even imagine who is going to be at his funeral- everyone in the entire industry will be so upset...

Betty Catroux and Loulou de le Falaise must be heartbroken, as are so many others I'm sure. But yes, what a spectacle his funeral will be.
R.I.P.

RIP
OMG I CANT BELIEVE THIS:o

I couldn't make it passed the third photo in the Yahoo News slide show without a tear streaming down my face. What a titan.

I'm not usually one to cry, but his death got me a bit teary-eyed. This is so sad. May he rest in peace.

I'm so glad we all have our other tFSers at a time like this...I know I'll be walking around sad tomorrow and several people will say "What'?? "Who"?...ect...They will never understand our loss....

The New York Times has put a very eloquently written obituary of him on their website. I'd post it here, but it's three pages long. Here's the link for those who want to read it.

I completely agree Boomer, im so sad because of this ive always looked up to him this is such a sad loss :(

:cry: they're having an exhibition on his couture work at the Fine Arts Museum here... his death will make my visit there that much more emotional.

May he rest in peace

I just finished watching the film about him that was on Sundance.
