Leggings

I own nylon, polyester, and cotton legigngs. Some I could wear on its own and some to wear with shorts when working out at the gym or house. I wear under shorts to knee length. I have striped leggings from Adidas that i have a matching shirt. They are bike leggings. Others are cotton / poly for workout that could be worn on its own. Nylon ones are blend and nylon. The blends are the ones found in clothing stores. Nylon leggings are needed to be worn with shorts / skirts etc. These are the footless tights styles that are light but still opaque. next is Allen bodywear for men in black with white stripe. These are my last requests.

Where are some good places online to find unique PRINTED leggings online? (Besides stockingirl and sockdreams.)

I see a lot of animal, plaid, skull and basic striped prints around, but I'm looking for something a little more 'artsy' or unusual like these by Mociun:

^ The Mociun leggings were sold at Jumelle in Brooklyn, NY (shopjumelle.com). However, they were from Fall 06, so they're no longer available.

I know urban outfitters has a lot of printed cropped tights. If you cover your bum they serve the same purpose as leggings.:flower:

Discontinued the legging wear after I spotted an 40-ish woman wearing them. I finally witnessed how ugly it actually was.

Tights websites

Try Welovecolors.com, joyofsocks.com, mytights.com, foottrafic.com, urbanoutfitters.com, tightsplease.co.uk. This should get you started. All are purhase online retail but affordable. Spandexwear.com has order of sports leggings with drawstring and footless. Like similar to Nike or reebok styles except more nylon and not as fitting but still tight and opaque for you.

Thanks, ecman2wst! I have heard of a couple of these before, but on the whole, this list is great and new to me. Love the normal sock collections as well. ^_^

What's wrong with old women wearing leggings...is it because they are 40 or what.
I think as long as the person wears it well, has the body for it, and pretty much sure of themselves than anyone between 16 and above should wear it.

When I am 40...you won't see me become the regular soccer mom.

I'm in agreement that one shouldn't be turned off or dislike a particular style just because it has turn into a trend, however, while I never completely embraced the legging wear even prior to its popularity, I've been weary of the aesthetics of the leggings trend as something fashionable. It cuts off the length of your legs and the fact that so many people are dressing seemingly identical is annoying itself. (I wore them at home for comfort)

I esp do not think women of the age 40+ should be dressing in the style of teen trends, I see this more than often while I'm shopping and I feel embarrassed for them. I'm not saying one should look like a frump after a certain age, but a woman who is obviously not of proportionate weight in tight black leggings paired with ballet flats is not a vision of style.

Okay,
but just b/c someone is over a certain age doesn't mean that they are automatically fat and gross.
As long as the person is totally fit and wears the leggings with the appropriate attire than they should be able to wear it ...and not be constricted by their age.
EVeryone is entitled to his or her own opinion.

Where are you getting the parallel that age equals fat/gross? You missed the point entirely. I can see there is no need to explain once again after that.

I've eased up on leggings under skirts a bit more. Some ladies really do pull off the look without looking overdressed or dopey. I found this link in which people debated whether or not leggings were great articles of clothing. Check out some of these comments regarding leggings:

Some ladies really do have the actual build and look lovely enough to sport the look without looking overdressed. Ladies do say that it's a comfort issue that gives ladies confidence to proudly wear a miniskirt. I been confused as to how it became a SUMMER trend. The best I'd go if I were a lady is to wear pedal-pushing capri pants and have a detachable skirt to go with it. It's usually an off-balance deal. Here are samples of ladies I've seen who attempted to wear leggings with some sort of skirt, dress, or jumper of appropriate length:

* the usual pairing of a denim miniskirt with leggings. Usually topped off with Converse-type sneakers.
* a denim skirt with lacy black leggings and cute, shiny, black flats.
* a lady in short shorts pairing with leggings and Converse-type sneakers.
* a lady who wore a yellow jumper, black leggings down to the ankles, and wearing cute black flats.
* a lady in a white shirt with denim miniskirt, gray/grey leggings, and black moccasin-type shoes.
* a lady in a black top with denim skirt, black leggings, and tan cowgirl boots.
* a young girl who wore some colored skirt with green camouflage leggings to ankles, topped with flip-flop sandals.

The best use of leggings is with tunics. Reason being is because it's a true casual look that won't put you in too much trouble. Some people say that ladies who wear leggings under mini skirts either wear skirts with bare legs or simply don't wear minis. Here's a video game example. In the NCAA Football series of games by EA Sports, games played in very cold conditions usually have the female cheerleaders wearing longjohns in the cold. Still wearing the same cheerleader skirt or dress, just wearing longjohns in the cold. Just trying to stay warm. That's one of the only real exceptions to wearing such clothes. Very cold conditions usually mean you wear these longer and warmer articles of clothing. But if you're just trying to impress friends with good looks, you'll fail about as badly as the 2006 Duke University Blue Devils' football team. And that's that.

I have a blue dress/tunic-y thing that is NAVY. I don't know what leggings to sport? I am only 5'3'' and umm.. well, I don't have stick thin legs (athletic? to put it nicely).. so basically i don't want light leggings, what are some darker ones.. ?

leggings are very tricky

if your over 20, leggings can look VERY tacky , peggy bundy chic ,but i think the saga of leggings has gone worse , metallic foil leggings OMG!!!!!!!!:yuk::yuk: , last year it was big to wear them under dresses , but people realized it kills the beauty of the dress, ladies if you want to look sexy , switch to a pair of black tight stockings , its a look which is big in europe , and i like it....

Yeah I love the look of black tights with a dress, definately more Euro. I do love wearing the leggings though with boots and a chunky long sweater.

^ I second that look, exactly my "I - don't - have - time" uniform in the winter.

I still horribly dislike leggings, but I'm okay with leggings paired with flats or pumps. Sometimes sandals (of many kinds) as well. What leggings to wear with a dress? How about NO leggings? Tunics and jumpers are fine. I think leggings can be cute for those not trying to look like rock/punk/skate folks. I'd avoid slip-on sneakers as well as any shoes like Converses. Flats and pumps seem to be good shoes to wear with any sort of leggings. The mini skirt with leggings is probably here to stay. Just as bad as tucking boots into jeans or pants like you're walking through snow or high water or like it's extremely cold.

At least you know there is still hope for wearing leggings and not making me ick out at the sight of a lady pairing leggings with a skirt or shorts. A few ladies I know have worn leggings with a tunic very nicely. Much fewer with skirts and jumpers with leggings. It's just a terrible look for a number of ladies. I don't see why some insist on pairing leggings with skirts and jumpers, comfort issue or not.
