Ok so I know a lot of ppl think of their mothers and grandmothers when they hear Lilly Pulitzer but personally I LOVE Lilly. It's just so deliciously WASPy! I love the whole "country club suburban trophy wife" look. In my area lots of spoiled preppy girls wear Lilly sundresses and skirts in the summer, but I know if I ever dare wear any of my Lilly in NYC I be laughed back to NJ. I just think Lilly is great summer wear... especially if your at the beach or on vacation somewhere like Florida or the Virgin Islands.

Looking for Lilly Lovers!!! :flower:

I like SOME of the things in the collection, but I really think that they can only be worn at the beach or somewhere really sunny. Her stuff is very very brightly coloured.

thought this belonged more in designers and collections. :flower:

I gasp! I am far from being a "WASP" and I grew up as a fan of Lily. I grew up in a very preppy community however....Lily is fabulous on any lady who loves feeling pretty.

thanks utopia... i don't know why i didn't put this topic in the designer section

the shoes and the swimwear are the only things i can really tolerate...unless it's on a little kid...then it's cute...but 45+ women wearing those bight colours and prints is just not flattering...imo...especially if worn with a headband and if matched to your daughter...

i was at my friend's country club last year upstate...and they were having some children's awards party...and literally half the girls and their mom's were in pulitzer...just yuck!...very redbook... not good ...

Lilly prints are so cute on kids, especially the little dresses with whales and cats on em

I hate it, I hate it all. :ninja: Then again, I live in a very, very preppy town that I hate, so I am kind of biased by everything that, in my mind, defines the 'look' of our town.

Guccigirl,
I LOVE Lilly Pulitzer! It would be nice if there were more of us around here in order to get a discussion going. :flower:

I really like lilly pulitzer too. I just saw the new spring collection online, looking good!

this might sound stupid....but what does WASP stand for? this abbreviation was also used a lot in "bergdorf blondes".....
please help!

A little late, I know....but I LOVE Lilly too! I just wish I knew where to find them up here in Toronto. I've seen them around at the Winners (discount designer store, run by the same people who do TJ Maxx in the US) store on Bloor Street, but I don't know where else! I try to get Lillies whenever I'm in the US and I'm also far, far, far from being WASP.

^^
I am not a WASP either (I'm AfAm) and have quite a few Lillies, including shoes and bags. I like to mix it with more conservative, classic pieces, and of course, their pink and green are my org.'s colors.:flower:

I like the colors for spring and summer. I enjoy the preppy look sometimes, though I'm far from a preppy.

Reviving this thread!! I love Lilly, my style is classic preppy. Lilly has now moved slightly away from the over-the-top prints and has some great basics/classics mixed in. I love mixing her pieces with other lines. This summer there are some really cute linen shifts and silk dresses. It's not all crazy cotton shift dresses!! The shoes and accessories are also adorable and have moved to being more high-end.
