London College of Fashion

So I feel a bit lost right now... I've been looking on the LCF website for hours and it seems like an amazing school. However, as an international student I don't always understand everything. I would be a transfer student as well, does anyone know how that works? Also I am wondering, can I apply only to one BA program, or do you apply to more than one? I am thinking about majoring in Fashion Journalism or perhaps Fashion Management. Does anyone know what its like to be in these programs? Any advice is welcome! :)

A good management degree should include all sides of business: operations, marketing, finance & accounting, HR and ICT. Make sure the university gives you a comprehensive course structure before making a final decision. The classes you take in college ARE important when applying for your first job. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your advice DollyMix! :flower:

I was also wondering if anyone knows what the BA (Hons) Public Relations program is like? It sounds so interesting and like the perfect blend of fashion, journalism, media, and culture.

I'm on my first year of Buying and Merchandising, and am loving it! The course is great :)

Does anyone know what kind of questions they ask for Fashion Womenswear got my interview soon!

Do you think the e-learning short course in fashion buying and merchandising is worth it?
i already have a BA and i'm in a master program at the moment but I figured it will always look good on a CV....what do you think?

I'm interested in the online short-courses as well. Has anyone done them before? Are they worth it?

Hi, Im new in the forum here! Anybody here have been accepted to LCF's FDA in fashion marketing and promotion or is already in the course? Because, I'm in quite a dilemma now.
I actually really hope to get in BA hons in fashion management but I was given a place in the FDA course, I'm happy of course to be given a place! But now, I don know if marketing and promotion course is sufficient or good choice for me to learn about fashion management since I couldn't get into BA hons in fashion management or would a merchandising and buying FDA be better? Someone please advise me! :(

Let me put it this way: What do you want to work as, after you have graduated?
I am on the B&M course

I applied for the creative direction for fashion, kinda unsure about it since it's a new subject, but we'll see what happens with my application..

Actually, for me, my initial plan was to study the management course to learn the in depths of how fashion business is run ( of course it didnt go as planned! :/) and as of what i want to work as after i graduate, for me I didnt really thought of working either in the merchandsing or marketing sector( as seriously i don not mind either one) as my main goal is to be a fashion entrepreneur in the future so to me either part of the industry for me is still an working experience for me to gain. :/

And now, this thinking of mine, is giving me headache! lol.

My only concern is that i dunno which one weighs more that will in turn benefit me more in my goal towards a fashion entrepreneur.

Anyway, how is the buying and merchandising course so far? Isit good? :)

I'd probably arrange for a meeting with one of LCF's adivisors, or send them an e-mail, that way they can help you find the right course.

The B&M is GREAT. I have just started on term 2 though :)

Hey there!
I applied for fashion journalism and fashion PR at LCOF and fashion journalism at UCA and I'm quite concerned, as UCA answered immediately, asked me to send to them an example of my work, then a protfolio (as I'm a non-uk student) and now they're making a decision on my application and LCOF didn't even answer if they had received my application - is that normal? How long do you usually have to wait for an answer from them?

Hi all. I am attending the open day in March at LCF. By the end of the year I want to apply to the fashion journalism course. Do any of you know what will help me stand out from other people and what they want from applying students? Thank you! (any help, i am grateful for)

You will receive an e-mail from LCF when they have received your application. I waited 2 1/2 months before they read mine. They have A LOT of application to go through including handling students on three levels that are already in school, on that course. So they are quite busy.

For those of you looking into the BA Fashion Journalism course I would advise you to heed all of the advice in this thread. I ignored it and the course was a great disappointment. The tutors are irrational and unreliable and favoritism is a huge problem. Without going into details there have been a number of problems but above all the quality of learning is weak. Do your research before you choose this program especially if you are an international student.

^I'm sad to hear that, since I've consider applying. Not so sure if I will anymore, since I've heard so many negative things. :/ Frustrating.

Does anyone know if the same goes for the Fashion PR course?

I've heard a lot of the same complaints but they have better tutors for the PR classes so it's not as bad. The PRs and Journos are in the same classes for the first year and then they separate so I can only pass on what I've heard from my friends.

Ah, I see.

Seems like a better choice overall, maybe. At least I haven't heard any complaints about that course, as I have with the jrnlsm course.
