Louise Trotter - Designer, Creative Director of Bottega Veneta

Lacoste?!?! Is that eve considered fashion?!? What a sad world we live in if Lacoste is a reference for anything but a tshirt one goes to gym in to sweat.
The question was « could she do menswear ». She can because she did it at Lacoste. And her Lacoste menswear was proper menswear from tailoring to coats to athleisure. Whether is our taste or not is not the question…She did menswear. And it was convincing.

Stefano Pilati worked at all the esteemed fashion brands in the world to design a collection for Zara. Does that question his abilities to design?

And as far as I know, Christophe Lemaire doing Lacoste never jeopardized his credibility when Hermes hired him and when he became that beloved voice with his own brand…

So wait, Bottega won’t show anything new until September? That’s crazy, non? Not even a lookbook or collection done by the studio? What are they even going to sell until next year when Trotter’s pieces arrive in stores?

They did the same for the rebrand under Lee. They skipped the SS19 season and did a shoot for PF19 followed by a runway for FW19. I imagine that fashion isn't as important at BV as it is at the rest of Kering, so they decided to save money and skip the season altogether instead of doing a studio-led show/lookbook.

I think they’ll be milking this Blazy Bottega cow for as long as they can at the same time avoiding any criticism of Trotter or client confusion. They must have so much stock to sell all over the world…

dont know how they will be milking it as its truly not selling especially RTW. They put too much emphasis on the prestige and also store design but the price point is absolutely insane. having said that im sure we will soon see blazys pieces in outlet stores particularly in italy and also at employee sales
im hoping that perhaps with trotters tenure plus the whole sh** show they have in kering at the moment they might reconsider the pricing policies they implemented

Can brands really back down on pricing though ? Especially if they claim to be "luxury" or "leather"
Not just slowing the price increase but also actually decrease prices for upcoming collections, that would contradict the Veblen goods effect.

Not entirely sure how that can be done in practice but for sure they can “freeze” the pricing I think aka not to any higher and remain on the same level as before maybe? Or maybe Trotters products can be more “humble” so that consequently the price is on par idk but anyway I hope that her BV is not as pretentious and astronomically priced as Blazys which is one of the reasons why I hate his Bottega lol
