Lupita Nyong'o

Yes, she looks wonderful in glasses. She'd make a smashing Vogue cover; she looks like a model anyhow - she's so gorgeous...

Lupita looks so wonderful at the Calvin Klein show, I like that shade on her. Plus, she's totally rockin' the glasses. Hoping this is a sign that she nabs a Vogue cover in the future, how great would that be?

Isn´t a Vogue cover too much? I mean, she´s only done 2 movies... what will happen when the Oscar frenzy is up? she might not win. Maybe it´s more realistic to think of a feature instead of the cover?

Anyway, her skin is so amazing imo every color looks good on her :)

Yeah I don't think she's going to get a Vogue cover this year unless she announces a secret Broadway project like I want her to. Every year there is an awards it girl and Lupita is just the latest one however Anna does seem incredibly enamoured with her. I just hope it leads her to getting amazing work. :flower:

Her look at Calvin Klein is her best in a while.

There are people who have done less IMO that have been on the cover of Vogue. If a CW actress can get 2 Vogue covers I don't see why an Oscar nominated actress with great future promise and amazing fashion presence can't.

^but Blake Lively was massively known because of GG, I don´t think Lupita is to the general public. It´s more about fame and people buying the mag not about talent imo.

Either way I'd love to see her do something with US Vogue, cover, feature, whatever. She photographs beautifully and wears these collections so well.

^Yes, I´d love to see something from Craig McDean :)
maybe something with a male model? she really poses like a model imo...

She is the definition of a black barbie. They should really make Lupita barbie doll.

and yes she needs a Vogue cover Jennifer Hudson got one that year of Dream Girls her first movie why can't she get one.

^because Jennifer Hudson was already popular for American Idol? :)
if you look at Vogue covers history, most are very popular actresses from tv,movies, music (eg Jen Lopez, Adele) or had been around for a while and have a big movie to promote (eg Carey Mulligan) or are very famous for her style (eg Sienna Miller).
I´d love to see her on the cover but I don´t think it´s very realistic to expect one any time soon (I wouldn´t care if I´m wrong though). If she was going to get one because of 12 Years and her Oscar nom it would have been February or March, right?

Rooney Mara was new on the scene, not very well-known and hadn't even been nominated for an award yet when she got her first Vogue Cover.

Yep. There's really no way to argue this. Rooney Mara and Blake Lively weren't as widely known when they got their covers as people thought they were.

but the thing with Rooney Mara -if I remember correctly the discussion at the time- went beyond fame, it was more about her family (Wintour kissing certain body parts and all that :pink:)
wasn´t Gossip Girl huge when Blake got her first cover? I always thought it was a very "it" show in terms of fashion...

I think I might be going to far with this discussion, sorry I´ll shut up now

Hmm, IIRC Gossip Girl had a promising first season with mixed reviews, and a really good second season with better reviews and a pretty solid audience. But afterwards, the audience dwindled more and more to meager ratings/viewers by the time it ended. I think what was supposedly interesting about the series was its so-called "cultural relevancy" but I always thought that argument was reaching, especially as the show continued.

Anyway, I agree with the poster above who said actresses with less achievements than Lupita have gotten a Vogue cover (and much more), and if you have any level of social awareness it's not hard to ascertain why. Rooney Mara, much as I love her, got the Vogue cover a good while before GWTDT was due theatrical release. At least, I remember posting in her thread about how odd it was she had gotten the cover so easily, especially when the film went on to fall short of expectations. The family connections explanation doesn't make it any better either, because that's something she was born into, not something she accomplished. Do we really need to talk about Blake? Fine. Gossip Girl wasn't anywhere near popular nor relevant enough to warrant her a cover, nor her pursuits outside of it, with the exception of maybe The Town, where she only had a small role. Meanwhile, Lupita has an Oscar nomination, a SAG award, critical acclaim and accolades all over the place, and only with her first role. If she doesn't get a prominent cover soon, well...racism prevails.

that pale lavender color at CK looks absolutely divine!
she must be a stylist's dream to collaborate with.

Rooney was in the most antecipated female role of the year. It made total sence that she got the cover.
Lupita´s cover would make sence if she wins the Oscar, but anyway if Kim Kardashian is really getting the cover, then I don´t really care about what does or doesn´t make sence.
