I agree that those list are based on popularity. And, hey is People after all. But the message that this selection send to younger audience is so powerfull. I almost cry with her speech about beauty. Im beyond happy with this cover. Beside, very important actreces graced the cover of this issue. Love the picture... So happy, again... happy!

While these rankings of "most beautiful" often don't mean a thing (and I think it is terrible to 'pit' women against one another in such a way) I do think it matters that Lupita was given the honors of "most beautiful." She's only the third black women to receive this title from People magazine and I know it will mean the world to many people to see a women of color who looks like them be given such a title. Plus, Lupita does look pretty fantastic on the cover of People, so very glamourous looking!

I'm happy and pleasantly surprised to see her on the cover! Like others said, the list is meaningless but it's nice to see her face on newsstands and her interview inside is sweet and humble. While she is still lining up her post-Oscar career, it's good exposure.

Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong'o in Talks for Disney's 'Jungle Book' (Exclusive)

Jon Favreau is directing the live-action/CG hybrid adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling tale.

Disney is swinging forward with its adaptation of The Jungle Book, with two actresses in the midst of boarding the project being directed by Jon Favreau.

Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyong’o are in the middle of negotiations to join the already cast Idris Elba in what is being envisioned as a live-action/CG hybrid movie.

Nyong’o is in final negotiations to play Rakcha, a mother wolf who adopts Mowgli.

Johansson is in earlier stages of talks to voice the character of Kaa, the python who eats other animals by hypnotizing them. Kaa is the movie’s second villain after Shere Khan, the man-eating tiger being voiced by Idris Elba.

The part of Mowgli has not been set yet.

Justin Marks wrote the script for project, which has a release date of October 9, 2015.

Favreau is producing along with Brigham Taylor.
The Disney version of Jungle Book is one of two projects underway. Warner Bros. is developing its own version of the property with Andy Serkis set to direct.

Johansson (CAA, LBI Entertainment, Morris Yorn) is currently shooting Avengers: Age of Ultron and has the Luc Besson action movie Lucy awaiting an August 8 release.

Nyong’o is only now making her first moves since winning a best supporting Oscar for her work in 12 Years a Slave. Earlier this week she joined CAA for representation.

Hot off her Best Supporting Actress Oscar win, Lupita Nyong’o has signed with CAA. The 2012 Yale School of Drama grad made her feature debut in the Steve McQueen-helmed Best Picture winner 12 Years A Slave playing cotton plantation slave Patsey opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender. Nyong’o was a darling of Oscar season, storming red carpets and media appearances in what marked her breakthrough year during which she racked up numerous critics’ awards, a SAG Award, and Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations. The Kenyan-Mexican actress also appeared in Universal’s airborne thriller Non-Stop with Liam Neeson. She’s also repped by D2 Management and Del, Shaw, Moonves, Tanaka, Finkelstein & Lezcano.
