MA1 flight jackets

but it's not an MA-1, you crazy penguin! You're off topic! :judge:

fourboltmain, is your dog some kind of commie sympathizer? Don't answer that.

now I am off topic. :hardhead:

to make amends, here's what wikipedia has collected about the history of the jacket of this topic.

Ignore my post then...i'm clearly out of it....haha
Thanks for enlightening me into the wonder that is the MA1 jacket. Wikipedia is great isnt it? :D

is this considered an MA-1? or.. does it need to have some qualification other than looking basically the same..?

bomber jackets in general are pretty popular this season it seems...
^_^...

Does anyone have any runway pics? I've seen MA-1s in many of this season's collections.. thank you in advance! :flower:

  perhaps if you put your dog behind an iron curtain ...

OK, now i'm off topic too.

But, I don't think I've seen a worse picture of Mr. Beckham. Though, my dear tangerine, i must admit your jacket is pretty swanky!

thanks pointup! :)

justin, I would say the first (blue bstore) one qualifies, though the pockets have been modified, but the second one has wandered off into "interpretation land." Still, it reflects the popularity of the general cut and style.

The few vintage pieces I own are Korean War era, maybe coming from my father's sense of style during the war. Wish I had some pics of him from then to show, he was in the Air Force. It's all pre-hippie, post-war time and sometimes futurism. I like the flight jackets because back then that was Buck Rogers kind of sh!t when we entered the Jet Age. We thought plastic would change our lives, and it eventually did.

awesome.. shame you don't have the pics.. :(

Could you post some MA-1 pics from war-time?

I could see this working on a guy but I'm not sure if I could pull them off like my dad in college :p I'm going to keep my eye on this trend though.

It looks cool on Steve McQueen and Johnny Depp but what doesn't? I fee like they are the exception to the rule...

Good point.

My hair is usually buzzed, and I like to wear doc martens. If I wore a flight jacket I think I would be giving off the wrong impression.

the jacket is very popular among actors:

Cool to see them more common mixed with other styles...
I prefer these second to leather/pvc jackets.

The Bottega bears virtually no resemblance to an MA-1 in any respect other than length, I think they are just riding the buzzword.
