MacBook

My MacBook also lasts around 2 h and 30m with continuous use.
My husband has a Mac Pro and it´s about 3 and 30m with continuous use.

My MacBook Pro is 2 yrs old and it's still just as quick as the first day I got it.. I added more memory and a faster drive in it and I'm in eternal love :)

Wow really? my macbook pro lasts 2 hours MAX

There are a couple of things you can do to extend battery life. There is a little battery icon on the top right hand corner of your desktop that you should see, and if you scroll down you can set it to "better energy savings" (as opposed to better performance or normal). Then I would recommend turning down the brightness as low as you can and not opening multiple windows. Also, never play DVD's or run Itunes if you're trying to extend your battery life, because it eats away at power. But the internet and word programs use less power and are typically what you need to use anyway when away from home. Hope that helps a little :)

^Thanks for the tips, but unfortunately, when using those tips, my battery life is still only 1-2 hours long :cry:

^^ aw sorry :( Did you try calling Apple? Because your battery life should probably be longer than that

As I mentioned earlies, try to download the widget iStat Pro (you can find it here)
After you've innstalled it, check it and in the battery-tab, check what it says under health and cycles. My MacBook has a little over 400 cycles and 100% health (which is amazing and unusual since i got so many cycles) - it lasts for about 3:30 with "average use" (or that is at least what my mac estimates). If you think it's worse than it should you should try to see a mac premium reseller or an apple store and they wiill probably help you out :)

^ Thanks for that advice. Mine usually lasts about 4/5 hours with the brightness turned down to the very lowest bar. It's only about 3 months old though!

the new MacBooks are supposed to be announced on October 14,
so hold on, on buying a new one for now. ;)

oh itunes. if i play itunes it drags my battery life from about 3 hours to at the most 1 hour. it's terrible. Still, i love my macbook too much to do anything about it. i just try not to use itunes, limewire, anything like that when it's not connected to the charger.

i'm dying to get a new macbook!

my ibook G4 just died a few weeks ago, i'm so sad... and i have to wait 4 months to get a new macbook, since i'm going back home to canada and i need the french keyboard... so i can't buy it in korea.

well, at least you'll get one of the new ones. About 5 hours til they get announced, from the leaked pictures they look pretty smooth, only bad thing is that rumors say they will drop matte screens on the Pro's =/

oh, i can't wait to see them... won't the price increase, though?

nah, not much, because things decrease in cost - like 4 GB Ram costs less now than two years ago, but Apple doesn't decrease their prices over time, so if you bought a macbook yesterday then it was probably slightly overprized.

thanks for the info, i had no idea!! i can't wait until i can buy it back home...

what's going to be new about the macbooks,if you know....aesthetics....system....?? just curious as i'm buying one later in the week[FINALLY]and i am incredibly relieved.....

Last Minute Leaks and Photos of the New Macbooks

John Gruber, who foretold the Oct. 14 event many moons ago, has just dropped what appears to be the motherload of what'll be announced. Besides confirming the spy shot, he confirms what I thought when I saw there wasn't a separate mouse button—the entire trackpad (which is glass) is a button, kind of like the BlackBerry Storm's screen. You just push it down, it clicks.

Two bits on the Pro side: There isn't a new 17-inch model. Whether it'll show up later (like the original 17-inch MacBook Pro) or will fade into history is unknown, but the current one will hang around for a bit. The biggie, though, is that the Pro has TWO graphics cards—a GeForce 9400M and a 9600M GT. It'll use the 9400M when it needs to conserve battery juice, and kick on the 9600M when it needs raw power. CPU is going to be about the same. Oh, and it's go glossy or go home, there is no matte option.

For the new MacBooks, they'll look just like 13-inch Pros, but they'll cost ya on that level too: The cheapest aluminum MacBook will be $1299, come with a 2GHz processor, 2GB RAM and 160GB HDD. Yeah, that CPU is a bit slower than the old one, but supposedly the GeForce 9400M inside will make up for it. The white MacBook will stick around, and drop to $999 for the base model.

And for the Airs, more storage, 120GB HDD and 128GB SSD. Woohoo. Of course, we'll find out soon, as we bring to you live.
