Mad Men

I agree, a lot of the mad men fans would rather have the whole show focused on the advertising, but I prefer the home stuff. I guess it would become too Revolutionary Road though. Still, Jon and January are compelling in those scenes...honestly I think they act circles around Leo and Kate in that movie. They both came off shrill whereas Betty and Don seem more fascinating.

Yeah i think, if anything, they need to find a way to spice up the workplace dynamics.. I like Sterling and Don, and i thought the Sal storyline was good.. but the rest of them, I don't know, i get a bit bored to be honest. bloody Campbell...i just want to kill that kid.. I suppose he's good for dramatic effect but he's such a self absorbed brat, he infuriates me  I like Peggy too but even she seems to be at a standstill.. there's just not much character development happening with any of them..

I agree that Jon and January are absolutely compelling...they have such incredible chemistry on screen, you could cut through the tension with a knife with those two.. i honestly feel like i sit holding my breath as i watch them.

I think Leo and Kate did a good job in revolutionary road too.. i think with Don and Betty we've had so much time to get to know them...so many nuanced moments where we're given so much insight into their minds, their pasts, etc. it's harder to do that in a film, to go from strangers to understanding them in 2 hours.

but I do think jon and january give them a run for their money, absolutely. They are nothing short of outstanding.. the best acting on TV right now, imo.

So much tension in that scene, oh my lord! So Hitchcock, my heart was racing the entire time, wondering what would happen and with the teacher right outside!

^ I didn't think Betty would call Don out in such an fierce manner and not let go until he answered her questions - all of them. She's much stronger than Don gives her credit for - she handled it all very well. The entire time the teacher was in the car, I was expecting her to come out and knock on the Drapers' door and go crazy on him for leaving her out there so long.

Both Jon Hamm and January Jones gave one hell of a performance. They should submit this for next year's Emmys/Golden Globes.

Another pretty amazing scene from this episode? It has to be this:

^^ Had to give a standing ovation irl when Joan physically broke his egotistical bubble.

I love a composed Betty just slightly more than Betty having her sl*tty cake and eating it too.. and she was A-MAZING in that ep. Don had no come backs, she was prepared for every response.

I was at the edge of my bed during last night's episode.

I too did not expect Betty to call Don out a) so quickly and b) so fiercely. She proved how strong she is. The part where they were sitting on the bed and Don broke down was really great imo. I loved how Betty remained unapologetic.

And I have a feeling this isn't the last we're going to see of that teacher, although I hope it would be. She's a conniving one who I think could do real harm.

Yeah I think the fact that we have two eps to go says a lot about where that teacher is going. She seems like the type to approach Betty and just make things more of a disaster...not that Betty is so innocent when it comes to extramarital affairs but Don actually falls in love with these women.

Oh man did i applaud Joan! Her husband makes my blood boil!!

And Hamm was so good in this episode, his face when he entered the house, and saw the kids and Betty, was priceless "panic" cheating husband's expression.

Not sure i was entirely happy with how Betty handeled the situation, but then its was very her, you could see she was angry, and tried to be tough, but just couldnt break out of her "houswife" zone!! Telling him she will fix his drink even in THAT moment, it made me yell at the TV! However she did show more backbone than i expected.

The very last scene was so brilliant though, especially Don's face!

"If Peggy from Mad Men had a vlog, this is what it would look like"...

Wow what a brilliant episode...that scene on the bed with Don crying was one of the best of the season if not the entire show, imo. those two are unbeatable together.

I was surprised that Betty called Don out but I thought the scene where Don was crying was one of the best scenes. I loved when Joan smashed the vase on her husbands head, god that man deserves that and much more.

Betty had such a tragic end, she is just so resigned to her life. I can't even begin to imagine what will happen in season 4 to her...

But I am glad to see the old gang back together at work and starting a new agency.

So incredibly sad, i am concerned for Betty, such a mistake, but i guess its all she knows.

Season 4 will be so interesting, to see where they take the characthers from here will be epic.

I felt profoundly sad in that scene with betty and don and the kids...sitting there like statues in the living room, trying to explain themselves.. and then bobby jumping up onto don and not letting go.. when don said 'none of us want this to happen'.. it's so tragic, really, to think this so often happens in real life.. people make choice after choice without even realising the consequences until they hit you in the face.. and they are both, at base, good people i think.. they want to be happy and have no idea how to be..

and when don called betty and said 'i hope you get everything you've always wanted..' wow.. what a moment.. the two of them are so cold to each other.. i just wanted one of them to scream through the phone or cry uncontrollably or something..

can't wait for season 4... though i am so sad to think this will be the end of don and betty together..

Oh and one random thing i LOVED was when Roger told Peggy to get him cofee, and she said NO!

:mowhawk:

It was full of great moments though, i also loved that Don told her how much he needs her.

I know it was coming and it was inevitable and it was done well, but I HATE that they broke up Don and Betty. :( I loved their family. Why couldn't they just have Don change his ways after the baby was born and have it be their new beginning?

It's completely unrealistic of me, but I would love for them to bring them back together.
