Mad Men

^Agreed - she was sensational this past season! Hopefully she will shine again in S3 and prove the voters wrong!

Glad this thread popped up again. I've been avoiding it since last summer so Season 2 didn't get spoiled. It wasn't shown in the UK until earlier this year.

If anything the second season was better than the first. I'm still blown away by the meticulous attention to detail, plus the performances are pretty fantastic across the board.

I agree with you, Miss Dalloway. January Jones was one of the standouts in this season and deserved a nom.

I'm thrilled for Elisabeth Moss who has done sterling work from episode 1 for 2 seasons.....but what a travesty leaving January Jones out who has quietly turned what was fairly passive role into one of the most interesting and complex female characters on TV today.
No other actress right now could play this role with the vulnerability/inner strength she has brought to it.
Fingers crossed for next time.

January Jones was completely robbed, she has been on every critics list for over a year and is getting a lot of publicity. Still, she is a relative newcomer and Elisabeth has been in the TV world since she did The West Wing. I also think women like Hendricks and Jones have their looks working against them in these races...

Does anyone else think Vincent Kartheiser (Pete) is underrated? He blew me away in last season's finale. Then again, I might be biased--I have a bit of a crush on him.

I'm glad Elizabeth Moss was nominated, but I agree that January Jones was robbed.

I do think Vincent gets slightly less attention than other cast members, but I do know he was on the short list for best supporting actor at the Emmy's, but obviously missed out on a nomination:(
Another example of a fine young actor coping extremely well with a very difficult role.

I think Aaron Paul on Breaking Bad stole Vincent's spot as the sole young guy to make it in, just like Elisabeth managed to slip in as the only ingenue with the vets.

On to season 3  Great premiere.

This show continues to kill me with its brilliance

^ Indeed it was! Maybe it's because I have been eagerly anticipating MM's return, but the acting seemed particularly amazing tonight. Each storyline seems promising, too.

Oh, and Pete....   I adore him so much.

I was so disappointed by tonight's episode! Hopefully as the season goes on it will improve. Definitely not the same Mad Men I've enjoyed for the past two years. :(

It isn't the same Mad Men because everything is changing.

I loved it!

I'm just hacked off because I've no bloody idea when I'll get to see season 3:( Glad you're all mostly loving it still.:D

I love the Brits in this episode, there's a sneak peek up next week when we see Lane's wife interact with Betty and Don. Everything ended a little too perfectly for Betty and Don though and I'm afraid this will be an even harder fall than last season for the core couple.

Also Joan looks to have gained some padding that Peggy had in season 1...maybe she's eating for the depression of her marriage?

Love Moneypenny...ha!

^

Another great episode tonight. The scene where Don lightly touched the grass with his fingertips blew me away. Subtle moments like that are what make Mad Men so incredible.

^I loved that too & thought it referenced a pure moment... earlier when he was talking to Peggy about the Patio campaign.

I love this show... the way they can tell a story without saying anything at all.

How cute was Peggy when she reached out and took a huge bite out of that guy's burger?

I love January Jones as an actress and how she plays the character of Betty, but Betty's treatment of her children, always infuriates me.

Mona looked very pretty in this episode. Loved how she referred to Jane as June. The women (especially Betty, Mona, Magaret) were all so annoyed by Roger. He looked so uncomfortable when they ignored him/put him in his place.
