Madonna was joined by Rio de Janeiro governor Sergio Cabral on a visit to the city's sprawling Morro Dona Marta slum yesterday.
She arrived in Brazil on Monday to meet various officials about setting up a children's charity in the country.
It has been a busy week for the singer, 51, who is said to have finally met the family of her 23-year-old boyfriend Jesus Luz during her visit to the Brazilian capital.

The hairdresser, who had Jesus when she was a teenager and is 15 years younger than the singer, was said to be dressed to impress for the meeting at Hotel Fasano and was joined by her son's agent Peterson Ibrahim.
Jesus and Madonna are believed to have been out at dinner as she arrived, and it is thought that she arrived early for an informal meeting due to take place after the meal.

Although Ms Da Silva is said to have initially criticised the pair's age difference and Madonna's apparent controlling behaviour, the meeting is a sign that she has warmed to the relationship.

Jesus's father, hospital worker Luiz Heitor Pinto da Luz, has not been seen near the couple or at the hotel.
Yesterday's visit to the shanty town with Mr Cabral was part of a series of meetings to discuss social projects in the country.

Madonna and Jesus seen leaving their hotel for a romantic dinner on Wednesday

On Thursday night she was seen leaving a dinner at the home of a Brazilian billionaire where she pitched her plans for a children's charity to wealthy fellow guests.
Television host Luciano Huck, who attended the dinner, told how he was 'very impressed' by her plans and that she was a 'truly special person'.
Among the other guests was Rio mayor Eduardo Paes, who claims the singer has also agreed to sing on Copacabana beach on New Year's eve.

He added that she had been invited to perform at the opening of the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Madonna, who is due to leave Brazil this weekend, has been criticised for her presidential-style security and entourage during her visit, which has seen a convoy including police cars taking her across town for meetings.

End of Jesus?

Madonna has been dating Jesus, but she also has her sights set on a new boytoy: call him Carlos II.
Carlos I of course was Carlos Leon, the father of Madonna’s pre-teen daughter Lourdes.
But last night at the premiere of Tom Ford’s “A Single Man,” Madonna took over a center booth at the Monkey Bar so she could flirt with Jon Kortajarena, the 24-year-old Spanish fly who plays Carlos in the film.
This was sort of hilarious since Colin Firth and Julianne Moore are the actual stars of the film. They’re also tipped for Oscar and Golden Globe nominations in this exceptional film. But neither actor was of any interest to Madonna. She was just focused on tall, dark, handsome and young “Carlos,” whom she kept at her table all night. It didn’t matter that Moore (with father-of-her-kids director Bart Freundlich) and a smashing blonde Ellen Barkin were at the booth next to hers, or that Firth was available for conversation. Kortajarena plays a male prostitute on the Sunset Strip circa 1962. He resembles Carlos Leon. Wherever Madonna’s boyfriend, Jesus, is, he may have to sleep on the couch next.
Madonna also caused a huge problem at the “Single Man” screening at the Museum of Modern Art. The screening began a half hour late as organizers waited for her arrival. Her lateness dragged on and on, so the movie was finally allowed to start without her. Madonna and posse finally showed up a few minutes after the film began.
At the party, Madonna also pretty much ignored Courtney Love and REM’s Michael Stipe, who sat across from her at a smaller table. The pair didn’t seem to mind. They had a lot to talk about, especially Love’s new album in progress. Also at the “Single Man” premiere: Kevin Bacon, Olivia Palermo, Rose Byrne, a glowing and pregnant Padma Lakshmi, Lee Pace, Judy Greer, and Gina Gershon. There were fewer Academy voters than usual for this sort of thing, lots of young pretties, and the photographers wound up posting pix of the publicist and his boyfriend. Weird.
But make no mistake: both Firth and Moore are certain Oscar contenders. Their long scene inside Moore’s character’s house — including dancing to Etta James and Booker T and the MGs — is simply a classic. Firth goes right up against George Clooney, Daniel Day Lewis, Jeff Bridges, Morgan Freeman — and swing vote Viggo Mortensen.

Rumors Swirl About Madonna Buying a Bridgehampton Horse Farm

Rumors continue to swirl that pop icon Madonna is intent on purchasing a Bridgehampton horse farm.
Though no papers have yet been signed, according to a local real estate heavy hitter who spoke on condition of anonymity, the singer is in fact close to buying the 26-acre Wild Ocean Farm on Mitchell Lane in Bridgehampton to house several of her horses. But the insider stressed that the private deal between current owner Kelly Klein, the ex-wife of designer Calvin Klein, and her friend and fellow horsewoman, Madonna, could be killed due to rampant gossip and intense press speculation.
Earlier this year, the singer changed her main locale from London, where she had shared a home with husband Guy Ritchie, to the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where she purchased an apartment. She’s been a somewhat regular visitor to the East End lately and this past April, she was injured in a fall while riding horseback at photographer Steven Klein’s West Kill Farm in Bridgehampton.
The Mitchell Lane property owned by Ms. Klein was once owned by neighbor and lifetime East Ender Benny Graboski. His mother and father purchased the land in 1928 after settling in this country from Poland and used it grow potatoes, once the most prolific crop on the East End.
Mr. Graboski took over the family farm in 1955 after his father died. He later sold the 26-acre agriculture-restricted plot to actress Stefanie Powers, best known for her role as Jennifer Hart in the television series “Hart to Hart,” and her cousin, Geri Bauer.
Ms. Powers and Ms. Bauer kept horses on the property, as has Ms. Klein. And since the land is zoned restricted for agricultural use only, and not residential use, Madonna will not be allowed to build a house on the land should she purchase the plot.
Mr. Graboski expressed regard for the horse people who have been his neighbors over the last several years, and also for the person who might be the newest addition to the area. “While recent owners have been high profile, the horse farm operations have been low key. The horses have been well taken care of and the barns and paddocks have been very well maintained,” he said. “They have been very good neighbors and I’m sure that will carry on with Madonna. We welcome her to the neighborhood.”
There has also been talk that Madonna is interested in purchasing an adjoining 23-acre property as well. That piece of land is currently in contract for a joint purchase by Suffolk County and Southampton Town, according to Southampton Town Councilwoman Nancy Graboski, who is married to Benny Graboski.
During a telephone interview on Monday morning, George Simpson, owner of Suffolk Research Service, reported that no deed had yet been filed on the property, but he added that the arrival of Madonna is nothing but good news for the East End.
“That’s what feeds the Hamptons is celebrity,” he said. “If P. Diddy throws a party, then the price of real estate goes up.”

^^I'd love to own a horse farm for my love of equine one day, so there is my interest in this. Anyone know more about Madonna's horses?

Exclusive in this week's Italian edition of Vanity Fair is the worldwide preview of Dolce & Gabbana's new spring/summer 2010 campaign featuring pop icon Madonna. Click here to take a first look and read what designer Stefano Gabbana has to say about the shoot and the star.
Madonna's private life is seldom out of the papers but this new Dolce & Gabbana campaign is unlike anything you have seen before. Exit the paparazzo, these shots by Steven Klein reveal much more than a grainy stolen picture, they showcase an intimate, real aspect to the ultimate icon's life.
In the Vanity Fair Italy feature, Stefano Gabbana discusses the campaign and why Madonna was the perfect match: 'She loved the collection,' he says, '....she is passionate and impressively knowledgeable about Italian cinema,' (Monica Vitti is her favourite actress and we see the resemblance).'
When asked as to whether Madonna knows how to wash dishes, Stefano Gabbana replies 'Certainly....she's a very practical woman....' And does she actually eat spaghetti despite her most enviable figure? 'Of course, says Stefano, and she can allow herself to with all the exercise she does!'
