Amazing clothes as always. Great tailoring and choice of materials.
I think the hair & makeup and the runway add a little sad feeling to this :/

what?...
no one posted pics of this?..

...:(...

so coat dresses or dresscoats or something like that. i'm quite disappointed by how wearable these all look. it lacks the Margiela DNA, the usual shock factor. though i haven't yet poked around the details and i'm sure there will be surprises.. but they still look devastatingly commercial?

I like it a lot, actually.

Some lovely colours and interesting shapes, while still maintaining wearability.

I wasn't sure about this collection upon first glance but after careful analysis of the textures and amazing deconstruction, I think it's beautiful. I really normally don't like MMM at all but this is so original; something to really muse over.

i have to say,it's definitely the best they done since MM departed. it's much closer to the typical MMM aesthetic. certainly, much of it is from archival ideas but at least it's strong and concise. it does make one wonder, though, have they transitioned somebody who may have worked closely with him because this along with that pre-autumn they presented have been surprisingly on par?

^good point, scott. :flower:

i think it's great.
as you say, much of it is no doubt derived from the archives,
but it really resonates aesthetically with the 90's Margiela that I so love.
I see this not only in the conceptual andconstruction details
but in the bulky yet sleek silhouette....and I LOVE the footwear. :D

I really like it! But open the HQs to really appreciate it. The colours here are great, and the silhouettes are interesting, as they should be at a deconstructionist house. This look, I am copying from above below, is an example. And for some reason it made me laugh, so there is still humour here, the way the coat looks to be peeling away from the floral dress underneath. But if you look closely you will see that a palimpest of the dress print lingers in the inside fabric of the coat! Like a trace remains of what was removed. Smart. The tough outer skin and the soft inner floral are inextricably connected. Good job at MMM!!!

Actually the palimpsest works as a good metaphor for the entire collection, since it clearly defers and refers to the MMM of old, that we know, knew, and love(d).

[Btw, I tried to find a smaller shot than the vogue.it HQ of the above look, and edit it, but then my post editing time ran out I guess. Hope it is not a problem loading, etc. Maybe it could be reinserted as a thumbnail...?]

I'm awestruck, this is the most masterful use of contrasting materials that I've ever seen, and you certainly have a wide array of textures in this collection; the gorgeous leather boots serving to enhance this feat even more. I adore the way it was styled with the pieces unzipped or slightly undone, could have been a risky move, but because the collection was executed with such precision the mind is able to fill-in-the-gap and envision the way the pieces would fit on the body -- which is quite a show of brilliance and artistry.
