Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture F/W 13.14 Paris

Couture jeans? I have mixed feelings, I'll have to think about it. Surprising collection, that's for sure.

^ I agree. Some pieces are nice but I can't get back the concept of "couture jeans"

The jeans threw me off, too. It makes everything seem vaguely cowboy/country inspired, and paired with the faceless masks, it's just science fiction weird. Other than that, though, there are some super beautiful pieces here.

I don't know if it's the right place to ask but, do they actually sell these couture pieces or is it only for image purposes? I'm wondering because I never heard anyone saying they were wearing MMMCouture...

It looks like a student project. I only find the flower headpieces interesting.

Kind of reminds me of Quaithe from the GoT series. I'm in love with this collection.

Yeah it's kinda something that MA fashion students did in their graduation show. I'll take a look at the details tho

well the original incarnation of this line was never called couture....called 0 Artisanal....they changed that right along with its intentions. MM's original idea was very clever, very thoughtful and even poetic. focused on crafting recycled material in only the way MM would do so. now it just looks a bit like buffoonery....too contrived.....cheesy beaded and chiffon cliches dashed with forced interpretations(or misinterpretations if you ask me) of MM's sense of conceptualism. horrid collection. they should just do away with this line if they can't be smarter about it. all it results in is gimmickry for the sake of publicity. desperate.

she is the new creative director but it remains a mystery whether she oversees all the lines collectively or just the main line and the 6 lines??

this certainly doesn't seem to flow with the kind of work she's presented so far in the main line and the 6 collection only last week.

Thank you so much for these infos! :flower:
