Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture F/W 13.14 Paris

I like the last few pieces.

Agree GERGIN. Only the last 4 looks are really really exquisite: That deconstructed instant-vintage tuxedo dressing with chinese long robe influence is beautiful-- perhaps it's not very Martin Margiela, but it is very exquisite nonetheless. They did that in their last HC collection as well. Also really adore the cropped bib/tuxedo jacket that resembles the jade armor of the Chinese Emperor-- although none of it is remotely Margiela, again... The flowers on the hems of those awful chiffon monstrosities, baggy PVC/rubber and jeans are just terrible: No excuses. Why would they do something so juvenile-- do they think they're being witty and clever?

It left me feeling numb, like there wasn't much ideas and running on empty. It's too shiny and to an extent, frilly.

you know what i just realized? in an ironic twist, what MM initiated by doing this line was to make cheap, accessible, unexpected material look very high-quality and immaculate but they are making expensive material look really, really cheap.

I like the commentary on fit. Baggy PVC but more fitted denim? I like the contrast. Is it beautiful though, and does couture have to be?
