Maison Martin Margiela x H&M

is this your first H&M collaboration?

they'll release a list online of stores that will carry these items

I really sucks that this won't be sold online. The re-sell prices on ebay are WILD right now. Another lost collab...

interesting that some of the people that showed up for this event you would never think in a million years would be margiela types. really shows how much those aesthetics could fit into anybody's style despite the fact that for most of those years he did not get a lot of attention from the mainstream press and when he did the perception was that he was too idiosyncratic. point is it proves that margiela had much more range and diversity than people gave him credit for. it makes one wonder, had he been given more attention than he did, would that aura have been able to reach this level then, say like helmut lang was able to?

btw,i cannot stand overrated SJP but i have to admit that look she chose does make her look slightly more interesting and tolerable than it usually does.

LOL @ people selling h&m shopping bags and hangers at 25, 14 pounds. really?

ebay sellers really must think shoppers are that senseless,no?

anyway,i have to say i do rather like that fusion button front. but the original is 99$. how very honest.

if i wanted to spend 900 dollars on 'fake margiela' i'd just go to yoox and spend them on real margiela, no? i wouldn't have thought the candy bags would be that coveted (i guess, considering how many are already on ebay and the prices)

^because it's kitschy and marginally trendy,i would suspect.

It's accesible. It's very reasonably priced, it's rather lighthearted and it's something the girls who don't consider themselves 'fashioney' enough to want to those oversized pieces will believe they can wear and enjoy.

It was always going to do well.

the candy wrapper clutch bag is my number 1 item...but i'm still not sure what kind of material it is and if it scratches easily. who knows..it could look like hell after a simple days handling of it...

i like it because it looks like pop art.

the narrow shouldered jacket is also quite nice. i like how business like it looks...

but i'm harboring no illusions....chances are my flagship store wont have the collection. and i dont want to wait 2 hours out in the cold just to have a "chance" to purchase the items.

i changed my mind about the leather jacket after i found an image on ebay..i no longer want it.

i dont think that it works. it just looks as if someone has taken leather shears to it.

Pretty much. I have decided to avoid this collection. I can't get down with already owning real MMM and then bringing this into my wardrobe. I really wanted the candy wrapper clutch. After seeing it's true size, it is not me...my opinion has changed. lol

yeah i don't care for that jacket either, lucy. it looks lazy and cheesy. i think had it come from the margiela era it would have been executed better. btw,i was reading elsewhere that most of that stuff was copied from original patterns. so i expect the collection as a whole will have some variations in the shape and cutting compared with the current stuff. but like i said before, this is why i feel ambivalent about this collaboration. you may have good pieces but it seems there is a fair share of some shoddy looking items as well.

btw,i saw on ebay for curiosity's sake, somebody actually has the gall to put that clutch up with a price tag of 399$....hahaha. oh the poor fool that might fall for a 400$ price on a 40 dollar bag.

What's on everyone's list?

I kinda want the candy clutch (although I prefer the candy the wallet they gave out in ny), the duvet coat, oversized pea coat, maybe a shoe, and the key ring bracelet/necklace. Mind you, that list will probably be narrowed down.

^I'm really interested in the oversized pea coat too, but it depends on the material. The candy wrapper clutch is cute but too big for my style. I also quite like the black pump that looks like a ballerina flat.

this was the h&m collab i was the most exited about and it ends up for me being the most disappointing.. i think they tried too hard replicating the artisanal vibe within the obvious constraints h&m imposes, the result is poor execution and fakey looking items.. women collection does come out above mens but still very meh..i'd rather wait for mmm sales

my very own mirror ball tuxedo jacket... First i didn´t know you can unzip mirror ball scarf - but it´s great detail - you can wear it in differenet way with a small zip hem around your neck - it looks really interesting... and have to say cut is really great, very precise

thank you fincher, interesting! :)

I was amazed to see all those people, it looks rather lame, like those two on a first photo I posted...yuck!

The prices are WILD..the perspex short boots are 400$ on auction and 650$ is full price.. but unf someone will buy cuz most of the people think it's fresh design LOl...

anyways, I think I am only purchasing oversized jeans, tho I'm too short for them but who cares.. and I like the fact no one likes it here...
