Marc Jacobs S/S 08 NYC

I'm liking this a lot more now. The 'rehab' vibe is pretty entertaining.

Now to watch the video!

well ironically here he presented a crackhead secretary here , but for his youth line , he offered very clean yet funky young working clothes...so he exceeded his expectations there.

now that ive looked through it, i love this, the collection has such a light, happy feeling.
its really interesting to look at each outfit and the styling, plus the whole idea and way its executed will cause some controversy..

also, im now looking forward to see what marc does for lv, if its a bit more cleaned up than this plus a bit more extravagant, i can see it being a great collection too..

Marc is the only guy that can put on an actual SHOW, and put foward a concept and clothes that have context - he presents like no one else in the fashion world! :)

Another fine example of how an extravagant venue can do wonders for a collection. The attraction to the runway here is a fact you can't deny; these 18 pages aren't focusing on the clothes alone. It seems most people are shying away from commenting on the fashion, which is a shame really.

I did enjoy this collection. I like the shoes, the illusionary dresses, decorations, but they're simply not practical, and that alone ruins a show for me. I'm not going to wear see through gowns or frayed shirts, and I can't think of anyone who would. In pictures this makes for a lovely collection of clothing, but in the "real" world it's amusing and nothing else.

seriously...
:p

*this collection actually makes my stomach turn...
I am still looking for any small part of it that i don't find nauseating

i'd rather he went back to copying and ripping off vintage patterns than trying to rip off rei kawakubo...
at least he did the first thing well...
this is just so crap...
:(

There's a gorgeous bracelet a few posts up ;)

Agree about the quality ... that one sequined dress is great, the rest just looks ... sleazy  Are we sure this isn't MJ for Target?

Here are some Manolos from 2006; again, not the ones I was thinking of, but they work in the same way:

Shoewawa

Yes, but ... what none of these have is an "actual" heel turned sideways like these. He's clearly riffing on this theme, but I haven't seen the sidewise heel before (not saying I couldn't have missed it--I'm not the expert that many of you are ;)).

Certainly Marc has made nothing here that I covet, I'll say that for this collection

There are some pieces and elements that I like, such as the weird heel, the dress that opened (closed?) the show, the "coming undone" theme, but it doesn't seem to come together. The clashing prints and the strings falling off everywhere just seem cheap. Almost like a university art show for undergrads.

Schiaparelli would be proud...But honestly i am happy to see a bit of surrealism back in fashion. It gives it a little more intelect. What i dont like tho is how he keeps going back to the f*cked up 50's housewife with the crayola colored tweeds and pumps. to me it looks like the more deranged version of his spring 2003 collection. Did anyone else get a feeling of a bit of Mui Mui fall 2007?

Oh my god I freaking love it all. It's so playful and fun, I was getting so sick of such serious-looking collections. Thank you Marc Jacobs!

What's wrong with this collection? Its hideous! Ive never seen so much crap in my life. Let me start by saying that the hair looks like a pile of vomit put on top of the models' heads. And I dont like vomit with my models tyvm. Secondly the clothes look like lumps of fabrics glued together really quickly. I think Marc was trying too hard.
However the white dress Chanel Iman wore is really nice.

i know its so messed up yet interesting and different . How are they able to walk?? there is no support from what i see , unless there is lucite but i dont see it.

Just because it's "different" doesnt mean its any good. Being "different" from everyone else doesnt make it immune from looking like crap.

After looking and trying to critically analyse before jumping to judgement, I can safely say I hate this collection. There were a few beautiful pieces (hardly anyone ever completely bombs) but overall the collection was just ghastly. And the shoes, well...no.
