Marc Jacobs F/W 07.08 NYC

^I went there yesterday. it's a very nice collection but nothing made me excited enough to pay retail price for...
my favorite is the tunic. better made than the YSL one from last yr, retail $1,600. silk with inserts and pockets. The sad news is that they are going to make it longer so that people can wear it as a dress as well. hmm I'm not sure.
the hats are nice. They are by stephen jones...but at $800+ :(
Coats are 2k-4k
pants are around 900-1,000
dresses are 1k-mid 3k
The bags are very exciting though. the ostrich bags are going to be 3k-4k range. regular leather bags with lots of hardwares are going to be in 2ks.
The shoes are actually super high. 4.5-5 inches...no platform...not sure if I can manage.
the clothes are very well made but clearly for older women. I think that they are going to do well retail wise. just not enough edge for myself i guess.

gg- the dress is expensive it's $2400, but there is a skirt that is similar for $1400.

Thanks for the report, Caffeine. I was afraid of that on the shoes :( I have been wanting oxfords for some seasons now, and I think this fall the selection is finally going to be there :woot: ... but not apparently from Marc. 90 mm is about all I can do without a platform.

From the runway, I didn't perceive the clothes as too mature ... but then I am, ah, more mature ;) I have been thinking that MJ needed to grow up for awhile now ... either that or he's going to lose some customers ...

there were many coats on the rack. I think that there were two versions. Wool and Cashmere. Hence the price difference.:flower:
also as I recall the wool felt coats had slighly different design on the collar and lapels...
and they felt a little rough right? unlike the silky cashmere material?

ta-ta, I think that ti was the right direction for him to go indeed. But the clothes didn't seem to challenge him at all :ermm:
Regarding the shoes, I wouldn't be surprised if saks or neiman have lower heels towards mass market. They often times do that:flower:

caffeine- you were right- i looked back on my notes and realized there is another ivory coat for $4900. this one was not shown on the runway and is more expensive i guess because it's embroidered wool? not that i remember seeing this coat, but it's on the sheet. from the drawing i would guess that the runway version is much prettier. :flower:

^that clarifies it. Thank you! I like the style on runway, but honestly $2k is too much for such rough wool felt material IMHO.
